The only thing "criteria" enumerated by Jay Stevens Maharaj, the jackass

Here's where you and Jay can find jobs:

[ Subject: SANSKRIT, THE MOST CONVENIENT PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE
[ From: Dr. Jai Maharaj
[ Date: December 8, 1998

Hindusim Today has published similar information
about Sanskrit about a decade ago. - Jai Maharaj

A post from Anil Londhe follows:

According to the Forbes magazine (July,1987), "Sanskrit is the
most convenient language for computer software programming".

Sanskrit (means "cultured"), is the classsical language of
Hinduism. It is the oldest and the most systematic language in the
world. It is vast and versatile.

In the words of Juan Mascaro, who has paid tribute to the
glory of the Sanskrit literature:

"Sanskrit literature is a great literature. We have the great
songs of the Vedas, the splendor of the Upanishds, the glory of the
Bhagvat-Gita, the vastness(100,000 verses) of the Mahabaharat, the
tenderness and the herosim found in the Ramayana, the wisdom of the
fables and stories of India, the scientific philosophy of Sankhya,
the psychological : philosophy of Vedanta, the Laws of Manu, the
grammar of Panini and other scientific writings, the lyrical
poetry, and dramas of Kalidas. Sanskrit literature, on the whole,
is a romantic interwoven with idealism and practical wisdom, and
with a passionate longing for spiritual vision." Panini's Sanskrit
grammar, produced in about 300 BCE, is the shortest and fullest
grammar in the world. According to Sir Monier-Williams,
(Englishman, Sanskrit scholar 1819-1899):

"The Panini grammar reflects the wondrous capacity of the hyman
brain which till today no other country has been able to produce
except India".

News item 2
"EMAIL DEATH THREAT SPREADS
"A death threat spam that frightened America Online
members last week now has spread to Yahoo Mail.
"The email message, which comes from an America Online
return address, reads as follows:
"'Hello, my name is Andy. I know where you live and I
know where your kids sleep. If you dont [sic] call me within
24 hours im [sic] going to kill your kids.' It lists a phone
number and adds: 'P.S. This is NOT a joke.'

[...]
"Threats made via the Net are not a new phenomenon. Earlier
this year, a 21-year-old Los Angeles man was convicted for
sending racist death threats via email to 59 Asian students at
the University of California at Irvine. The case set a precedent
in that it put online communications on par legally with
telephone calls and postal mail. It also was significant because
it addressed civil rights violations perpetrated online.

online services, families, and free speech advocates alike.

News item 3
"MAN CHARGED WITH CLINTON THREAT
"Eugene, Oregon (AP) - A man accused of threatening to kill
President Clinton during a visit here last June has been indicted
by a federal grand jury.
"Jeffery Loring Pickering, 49, is being held without bail in the
Lane County Jail is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in U.S.
District Court. If convicted, he could be sentenced to a maximum of
35 years in prison.
"Pickering, who was indicted Friday, was arrested by the FBI
last week in connection with telephone threats made in the days
prior to Clinton's arrival on June 13.
"The president came to Springfield to meet with victims, other
students and families recovering from the shootings at Thurston
High School which left two people dead and 22 wounded.
"In three calls to the FBI and Eugene police, a man said Clinton
would be shot during his visit and that bombs had been placed at
various locations in Eugene and Springfield.
"As the caller had accurately described, police found two bombs
in a culvert near the Oregon Air & Space Museum.
"The bombs were constructed of plastic pipe filled with
explosive material and were equipped with grenade primers. The pipe
sections were about 15 inches long and 1 inch in diameter. No other
bombs were found.
"Clinton's visit took place without incident. Ten days later,
police played a tape of one of the telephone threats at a news
conference and asked the public's help in identifying the caller.
"Court records show that two of Pickering's brothers contacted
the FBI and said he was the caller. His sisters and his mother
later identified his voice as well.
"The indictment charges Pickering with threatening to kill
Clinton, using an explosive in making the threat, making threats
that bombs were placed elsewhere, and with two counts of making
false statements to FBI agents.
"Days before the president's visit, Pickering told friends and
relatives that if Clinton visited the area he would 'blow him
away,' court documents show.

The wealthy get a sense of entitlement that is
derived from belonging to the privileged minority
of the population. Globalism serves them well.
Just work harder, longer, cheaper and import lots
of excess third world flesh, and before you know
it, you ARE the third world! They certainly got
the useful idiots over a barrel of bullshit.

thank you jai maharaj ji.
it is well known that sankrit is well suited for computers too, among host
of other things. hindu employers value that. no wonder brown kirastani
employers in india are falling behind which is very upsetting to anti-hindu
brown kirastanistas of the usenet, who have gullible mallu for their
waterboy.

MINK of SRK faces near empty halls says Business Standard

Highlights

1. Theatre occupany dipped to 30-35% weekdays as against 90-100% on
weekend.

2. Occupancy falling in non-metros and smaller cities.

3. MINK grossed Rs 90 crs globally but note only 47 crs from India.
SRK was always more popular with NRI's.

4. SRK is a marketer par excellence. If he had not created this
controversy would Indians & NRI's gone to watch the movie! May be it
might have met the fate of another Karan Johar produced film Kurban
which bombed at the box office.

5. Politicians and Media might want to learn how to see thru gimmicks
by Bollywood to get FREE Publicity for their movies.

MNIK faces near-empty halls

Aminah Sheikh
Mumbai February 18, 2010, 0:58 IST

Theatre occupancy for My Name is Khan dipped to 30 to 35 per cent in
weekdays after 90 to 100 per cent occupancy over its release weekend.

The movie had attracted considerable pre-release publicity owing to a
decision by the Shiv Sena not to allow its screening in Mumbai and
Maharashtra as a fallout of comments Shah Rukh made about hiring
Pakistani players for his Kolkata Knightriders cricket team.

"The movie did very well on the weekend due to the curiosity factor,
with virtually packed houses, but weekday collections fell to around
35 per cent," said a senior executive of BIG Cinemas which has
exhibition halls across the country.

"It is still holding on in the metros but is falling in the non-
metros and smaller cities because of the serious nature of the movie
and the subject. We hope it will pick up again this weekend," he
added.

The movie deals with the struggles of a Muslim boy, who suffers from
autism, in the US post 9/11. Confirming the drop in hall occupancy,
Vishal Kapur COO of Fun Cinemas, said, "The movie is suited for a
multiplex audience rather than single screens and that is where it
has lost out."

Weekday occupancies for My Name is Khan are much lower than it was
for 3 Idiots, he added.

Fox Star Studios, which holds the worldwide distribution rights, said
the movie has grossed Rs 90 crore globally in the first three days,
the same as Aamir Khan's blockbuster

3 Idiots which also grossed Rs 90 crore in the first three days
(excluding Rs 9 crore earned from paid previews).

A closer look at the earnings break-up, however, shows that My Name
is Khan grossed Rs 47 crore from Indian box-office in its opening
weekend, almost half 3 Idiots' first weekend earning of Rs 70 crore.

The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer has done better overseas, grossing Rs 43
crore compared to Rs 20 crore for 3 Idiots in opening weekend
earnings.

"The movie has performed well overseas but is certainly not the
highest Bollywood grosser so far," said film trade analyst Komal
Nahata, adding that weekday occupancies have fallen almost 60 per
cent.

and sent the corrected version back to them, adding suggestions. An
editor replied, screaming: "Do you think that we don't know what we
are doing!"

It is a rotten state ruled by a mediocre foreign (and white) woman with very
many corrupted or stupid sycophants in her tow. She is voted to power

bundurrHindus supported by jBm-class bundurrJews and their rich and

The government of India has had nothing good or useful to do with genuine
Indians for nearly a thousand years. Because India has been enslaved for
nearly a thousand years, and the process continues.

> The racist barbaric caste system is even worse then our system.

heh-heh, why do oz racists have issues with the Indian caste system? Caste
is not racist at all - it is endogamous and very useful. For it allows the
retention of skills, group values and unity, in an atmosphere of personal
freedom, and quite irrespective of state authority.

What exactly is the oz system? As far as I can see, it is based upon a
bunch of cynical clowns on TV or radio making wisecracks.

You accuses Australians of being racist and them claim the Indian Caste
system is not racist. Now I've heard it all, that would have to be one of
the most stupid statements I've ever heard! Presumably, maintaining India's
child work force, killing your wife over a dowry dispute, throwing a wife
onto her husband funeral pyre and killing female babies are all ok with you
too?

> You accuses Australians of being racist

When I say "oz racists" I mean just that. I don't accuse all Australians of
being racist, I say that there are such things as oz racists. It does NOT
mean that all Australians are racists. You have comprehension issues, I am
afraid.
There are most certainly horrible racists in Australia, and the Herald-Sun
has just published the photos of two white racists who beat a sweet harmless
black Sudanese boy to death just because he was black and they wanted a beat
him to death simply because he was black. Since these two racists are now
in jail, put there by decent Australians who form the majority that is,
there is no question of this majority supporting the racist murderers.
Life here in Australia is rather less violent on the whole. Going by my own
experience, that is. But then, I have led a comparatively privileged life
here, and the new immigrants are facing much more hardship than I had to.
Of course, any non-white can be murdered by the racists, as this guy was.
But in India, too, you could be shot or blown up by Sikh terrorists, Muslim
fanatics, ideologically driven Naxals, police shootings, religious riots,
wars, etc. Then there are the ordinary criminals, who while comparatively
non-violent are nevertheless not exactly peaceful. Then there are diseases,
famines, floods, strikes, gheraos, processions, snakes... no end to
excitement of a perilous nature in India.
Just the luck of the draw - if you get the short straw, you are up for it!

> and them claim the Indian Caste
> system is not racist.

It is not racist, as I said. It is however endogamous, meaning that one
marries within the caste. Within the caste you may have black, brown,
yellow, white complexions - these complexions corresponding ot various races
are all acceptable in principle but the fairer the colouring the higher the
chances of appreciation. So the caste system is not racist - but if the
racists want to maintain their racism, caste is a useful system to follow.
That way, a white caste could remain white, by being endogamous (whites only
marrying whites). Thus, oz racists (did I mean you?) need not knock the
caste system, as it should suit them. In other words, caste is not racist
but racists could use caste to maintain their racism. Do you understand?
This is an important point.

> Now I've heard it all, that would have to be one of
> the most stupid statements I've ever heard!

Please read what I have written a bit more carefully, if you can.

> Presumably, maintaining India's
> child work force,

No one maintains that. The child work force exists because they would
starve to death if they did not work. India has not been free for a
thousand years, and there are many evils that result from such a lack of
freedom.

> killing your wife over a dowry dispute,

Not all Indians do that. The foreign racists-bigots would not be screaming
about India's huge population if wives got murdered over dowry disputes!
Anyway, dowry has vanished in those areas where it was strong, thanks to the
killing of females fetuses. Now it is difficult to get girls, around Delhi!
Your thinking is dated. Technological advances have had a vast impact upon
social norms.

> throwing a wife
> onto her husband funeral pyre

In the rare cases of satidaaha (the VOLUNTARY self-immolation of a pure and
noble woman) there was no question of throwing the wife on the funeral pyre.
She would ascend the pyre, in full wedding finery, and perish with the head
of her husband in her lap, in the ultimate display of love and sprituality,
seeking reunion in the afterlife. Only the most noble women were allowed
this privilege. The high quality of family life that Indians enjoy, comes
as a direct consequence of such feminine self-sacrifice.

Not okay with me, for I have two daughters who are now independent and
happy. Yes the Delhi and female doctor told us that we could have them
killed, but we were shocked instead. But why should racist-bigots object to
Indians killing female babies, there will surely be less brown and pagan
Indians as a result? Evidently, emotion beats self-interest! :) :)

the positive side is: it wasn't a keral hooch.

A dozen French winemakers and traders have been found guilty of a massive
scam to sell 18 million bottles of fake Pinot Noir to a leading US buyer.

The judge in Carcassonne, south-west France, said the producers and traders
had severely damaged the reputation of the Langedoc region.

The 12 more than doubled profits passing off the wine to E and J Gallo under
its Red Bicyclette brand.

E and J Gallo was not involved in the court case.

In a statement on its website it said it was "deeply disappointed" to learn
its supplier, Sieur d'Arques, had been found guilty of selling falsely
labelled French Pinot Noir.

'No complaints'

The court ruled the 12 had deliberately and repeatedly mislabelled the wine
as one of the more expensive varieties of grape in order to get a better
price from E and J Gallo.

The Red Bicyclette Pinot Noir single grape wine is hugely popular in the
United States.

French Customs officers spotted the swindle and called in investigators.

They found the amount of Pinot Noir being sold to Gallo was far more than
the region produced.

Some of those in the scandal were not even Pinot Noir producers.

The judge handed out suspended jail sentences ranging from one month to six
months for the most prominent wine trader and ordered all the defendants to
pay fines.

The fines ranged from 1,500 euros ($2,050; £1,300) to the top figure of
180,000 euros ($247,050; £156,500) for Sieur d'Arques. The judge said that
the accused together made seven million euros in profits from the scam.

The judge said: "The scale of the fraud caused severe damage for the wines
of the Languedoc for which the United States is an important outlet."

A lawyer for Sieur d'Arques, Jean-Marie Bourland, told Agence France-Presse:
"There is no prejudice. Not a single American consumer complained."

A lawyer for three other defendants argued his clients had delivered a wine
that had Pinot Noir characteristics.

E and J Gallo said it was no longer selling any of the wine to its
customers.

well, the church is the frontal part of it.
the pope apologized for church's moral degradation in ireland just this

Corrupted Indian media

Advertising, Bollywood, Corporate power

P. Sainath
Thursday, February 18, 2010

Issues today have to be dressed up in ways certified by the corporate
media. They have to be justified not by their importance to the
public but by their acceptability to the media, their owners and
sponsors.

That the terrible tragedy in Pune demands serious, sober coverage is
a truism. One of the side-effects of the ghastly blast has been
unintended, though. The orgy of self-congratulation that marked the
media coverage of just about everything since January is now in pause
mode. Maybe the flak they copped for their handling of the November
2008 Mumbai terror blasts has something to do with it. But there is,
so far, some restraint. At least, relative to the meal they made of
the 2008 blasts.

Otherwise, through January and early February, the media stood up
bravely for freedom of expression and some other constitutional
rights you've never heard of. They slew the demons of lingual
chauvinism and worse. And they're just spoiling for a fight with any
other enemy of our proud democracy. Just so long as they can keep
Bollywood in central focus.

Every issue is now reduced to a fight between individuals, heroic,
villainous or just fun figures. So the complex issues behind the
shunning of Pakistani cricketers by the Indian Premier League are
reduced to a fight between Shah Rukh Khan and Bal Thackeray. (As one
television channel began its programme: "Shah Rukh stands tall. His
message to the nation ..."). The agonies of Bundelkhand are not about
hunger and distress in our Tiger Economy. They are just a stand-off
between Rahul Gandhi and Mayawati. The issues of language and
migrations in Maharashtra are merely a battle between Rahul Gandhi
and Uddhav Thackeray. And the coverage is all about who blinked
first, who lost face.

The devastating rise in food prices (let's skip the boring factors)
and the mess in agriculture are a face-off between Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. The pathetic
squabble within the Samajwadi Party is virtually a television serial.
A blow-by-blow account of Amar Singh's valiant bid to retain his
honour against Mulayam Singh's yahoos. (Indeed, some Hindi channels
have begun using the language of theatre to report it -- Act II,
Scene II. And there was one programme which Mr. Amar Singh ended
humming verses from his favourite film song). The Bt brinjal story
had mostly only one villain -- Union Environment Minister Jairam
Ramesh. He had no visible adversary unless you pose the humble
Brinjal as the hero. But that won't work for television. The other,
more sinister heroes in this media story preferred to function from
behind the scenes, plying newspapers and channels with faked data and
false information. Hell hath no fury like a powerful corporate
scorned, as the Minister is learning.

Issues? The same media that passionately fought for freedom of
expression for a month from mid-January had billed the 2009 Lok Sabha
poll as one without issues. The country was actually burning with
them, but they didn't make good television either. More accurately,
the dominant media hadn't the slightest intention of covering them
with any sincerity. The story of rising food prices remains one of
the worst reported -- no matter how much space it has been given.
Sure, there have been exceptions -- as in the case of some
outstanding reports on Bundelkhand. But they've been just that.
Exceptions.

If these last six weeks have been about freedom of expression, we
have neither. Or, at best, a twisted freedom and a tortured
expression. There is little freedom for thousands of journalists in
the corporate media and the few editors who still believe we ought to
be doing a better job of informing the public on the key issues of
our time. There's very little freedom for readers or viewers, too.
For days on end, it didn't matter which television channel you
switched to, it was SRK on all of them. When that movie drew to a
close, the 'Rahul Gandhi storms Sena den' film was released and
sustained. A visit of some hours produced days of footage. But with
the end of Mr. Gandhi's visit to Mumbai, it was back to Shah Rukh
Khan. Of course, viewers had the freedom to choose, which sets us
apart from totalitarian states. They could choose any channel, from
among many, to watch SRK saying exactly the same thing, at the same
time. And they will be free to choose again when the figure is
Amitabh Bachchan or Aamir Khan.

If what we've watched on critical issues these past weeks is
expression, we're through scraping the barrel. We're drilling holes
in its bottom.

Many corporate-owned media houses have sacked hundreds of journalists
and non-journalist staff since late 2008. Hundreds of other
journalists have suffered wage cuts. Of course, the 'right to know'
of readers and viewers does not extend to this information. Why scare
the poor lambs? And how can you tell them the truth about that while
everyday crowing about the once-again booming economy? It might lead
audiences to ask that dull, boring question: "If things are so good,
why are you axing so many people?" Answering that means revealing the
interests the corporate media have in the fate of the stock market.
It means talking about their need to keep the shares of the companies
they are linked to (or have heavily invested in) afloat and buoyant.
That is regardless of how rotten they are within. No matter how their
own shares in those companies were obtained. And no agonising over
how unethical the means used to keep them heated. This was in part
behind the fatwa issued by some newspapers to their staff banning the
'R' word last year. Recession is what happens in the United States.
In India, it was a slowdown -- and it's already turning around
brilliantly. The hundreds of sacked and ruined staff have little
freedom to speak of. Even the professional communicators within them
cannot tell their own audiences their story. Cannot tell them they
were laid off, let alone tell them why.

Leave aside escaping a recession, India Shining is back. The cover
story of a leading weekly gushes over the fantastic 'rural
resurgence' that is, in fact, saving all of us. Farmers are doing
just great. Drip, micro-sprinkler, and other micro irrigation, the
stories in it suggest, played a major role in this hidden-from-the-
human-eye revival. This resurgence is seen more in urban media than
in rural India. And the proliferation of such stories across the
media spectrum reflects, in part, the strenuous media efforts of a
major Maharashtra-based company. A corporate group that spends a
fortune on propaganda and whose interests in this line of irrigation
are pushed by some of the most powerful members of the Union Cabinet.
Oddly, stories such as these come out even as the government's own
projections for growth in agriculture are dismaying.

The main 'rural resurgence' story hit the stands the same day the
National Crime Records Bureau officially brought the 2008 data for
farm suicides on to its website. The 16,196 suicides that year
brought the tally of farmers' suicides since 1997 to 199,132. That's
the largest single, sustained wave of such suicides ever recorded in
history -- anywhere. Guess nobody told them about the resurgence.
Farmers in 2008 did know of that year's loan waiver, but it didn't
stop large numbers of them from taking their lives.

The 'rural resurgence' story comes after any number of the
government's own committees, commissions and reports suggest that it
revise poverty figures upwards. Whether it's the Suresh Tendulkar
committee, the BPL Expert Group, or earlier the National Commission
for Enterprises in the Unorganised sector. Or a U.N. study which
reports that 34 million more Indians remained poor or joined their
ranks in 2008 and 2009, because of the 'slowdown.' That is, 34
million more than would have met that fate prior to the 2008 crisis.
It matters little if Census data show us that 8 million cultivators
quit agriculture between just 1991 and 2001. (That is, on average,
well over 2,000 a day, every day for 10 years.) Or that the 2011
Census just months from now will show us how many more have fled
agriculture since then, un-seduced by the rural resurgence. Never
mind the facts. One giant private irrigation company stands to make
its already huge fortune bigger. Good for growth.

The ABC of Indian media roughly translates as Advertising, Bollywood
and Corporate power. Some years ago, the 'C' would have been cricket,
but that great sport is fast becoming a small cog in the large wheel
of corporate profit. (In the IPL, the ABC of media converge, even
merge.) And, of course, everything but everything, has to be
bollywoodised. To now earn attention, issues have to be dressed up
only in ways certified by the corporate media. They have to be
justified not by their importance to the public but by their
acceptability to the media, their owners and sponsors. The more
entrenched that ABC gets, the greater the danger to the language of
democracy the media so proudly claim to champion.

Super govt? Sonia Gandhi to lead advisory body

When the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance ruled in Mumbai, Balasaheb Thackeray
openly said that he had the remote control. The concerned citizens
in India roared in protest, and condemned the statement saying it was
against the principles of democracy, and so on.

The present remote control of the government in Delhi is actually
applauded by the same concerned citizens. Perhaps it is because the
remote control decided to hear her innner voice, and made a big
sacrifice in refusing to sit on the prime minister's seat!

Super govt? Sonia Gandhi to lead advisory body

By Nitin Sethi & Subodh Ghildiyal
The Times of India
February 13, 2010

The Sonia-Gandhi led National Advisory Council which set an ambitious
social sector agenda for UPA 1 is going to be back in action. The
Congress president who quit it because of the Office-of Profit
controversy has finally agreed to head the NAC again, setting the
state of what can be both an institutionalised goad as well as
oversight for UPA's flagship schemes.

The Congress brass have already begun to scout for policy wonks to
sit on the Council, and the expectation is that a full-scale NAC may
be in place by April to start scrutinizing the works for food
security legislation, besides keeping a watch on the flagship
schemes, existing as well as those which may be launched now.

"It will be Planning Commission for social sector", said a UPA
functionary familiar with the discussions on what should be the ambit
of the NAC-II.

Congress leadership has begun shortlisting names for Sonia's new team
at the proposed Council. One of Sonia's party colleagues is likely to
be on the panel.

The agenda for the revived NAC seems to be in order, with Food
Security Act, Communal Violence Bill and the proposed national law on
health and water seen as priorities.

Sonia quit the NAC after the Opposition alleged that she had violated
the `office of profit' principle, like Jaya Bachchan who lost her
Rajya Sabha seat on the ground that she had breached the rule
requiring MPs not to hold offices of profit during their tenure.

She also resigned her Lok Sabha seat to successfully seek a fresh
election from Rae Bareli.

The party leadership decided against restoring the NAC when Manmohan
Singh started his 2nd innings as it was apprehensive of the petitions
challenging the 'office of profit' law pending before the Supreme
Court.

Her nod comes after much persuasion from colleagues and legal experts
that there are no issues involved in her return to the crucial job.

FSA is the mascot of UPA-2's "aam aadmi" plank, like NREGA was in its
previous version. The Communal Violence Bill has been flagged as next
big thing on the party's policy menu. The proposed law gained
traction when the ATR on the Liberhan Commission probing Babri
demolition spoke of it.

The key laws are likely to lend strong weightage to the NAC in its
second avatar.

Resentment among civil society activists that improvisations in
MNREGA were diluting the focus of job scheme and a failure of the
government to allay those fears have raised hackles in the party. The
rising criticism over delay of 'aam aadmi' measures like FSA and
Communal Violence Bill could see NAC leadning on the government to
speed up..

It was a shrewd political strategy which led to the creation of NAC
in 2004. While the government had a professed "aam aadmi" face, it
was felt the party could appropriate the social dissent by partnering
the civil society in policy planning.

The role played by NAC in the enactment of the Right to Informatoin
Act, National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme- a big pro-rural poor
measure-and the Forest Rights Act to give land titles to traditional
forest dwellers, helped Congress with its pro-poor branding.

In the absence of the Council, Congress leadership let the ministries
work on policy issues, with senior leaders being asked to formulate
drafts as party inputs.

But the gaps stayed, at least in perception. There were probing
questions when the otherwise historic Right to Education came under
fire from disability activists who said the law did not take care of
the handicapped.

It is also felt that the NAC maintains a continued dialogue with the
society through activists on board which, given the contrast with
government's opaque ways, helps politically.

Central New York: Bishop Should Be Investigated Following Arrest of
Pedophile Priest

Young man steps forward with story of being molested by Episcopal
Priest Ralph Johnson

News/Commentary

By David W. Virtue
http://www.virtueonline.org
Thursday, February 18, 2010

[Bishop Gladstone (Skip) Adams] Arrest came swiftly this week for
former Episcopal priest Fr. Ralph Elwood Johnson. Johnson was charged
with multiple counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse,
indecent assault, and corruption of a minor.

The arrest of this former 82-year old Episcopal priest in the Diocese
of Central New York and the possible cover-up of the priest's sexual
activities by Episcopal Bishop Gladstone (Skip) Adams years earlier
beg for double justice.

The first justice should be whatever the courts determine Johnson
should receive for his vile conduct. The second is what should happen
to Bishop Adams who tried to conceal the priest's behavior and, in
the process, attempted to depose a godly priest for being a
whistleblower.

The truth is the bishop should be investigated by the national
church. He should face the same charges brought against the now
inhibited and deposed former Bishop of Pennsylvania, Charles E.
Bennison who was forced to step down following a trial and conviction
on charges that he covered up his brother's sexual abuse of a female
minor.

The story begins in 2006 when the now former rector of St. Paul's
Church in Owego, Fr. David G. Bollinger, claimed in a lawsuit that
Bishop Gladstone Adams retaliated against him for raising allegations
against then St. Paul's rector, Ralph E. Johnson.

Fr. Bollinger, now retired, said he was punished by the church for
being a whistleblower and removed from his position. The bishop
inhibited Bollinger six times and drew up Presentment charges against
him. Fr. Bollinger prevailed in an ecclesiastical court when the
diocese threw out the charges.

The lawsuit alleged the local Episcopal Diocese failed to act on an
accusation of sexual abuse and retaliated against the former rector
who brought up the complaint. Bollinger was vindicated by the courts.
Bollinger suffered a serious heart attack at the time and retired.
Adams still kept his job.

Everybody in the diocese wanted it all to just go away. Sex abuse
scandals rarely do, however, as the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland
has learned to its dismay. Scandal can erupt years later with
horrible consequences. Over the weekend, Pope Benedict XVI took 24
Irish bishops to task for the sex abuse crisis in that country,
calling the scandal a "heinous crime."

The Diocese of Central New York tried to block Fr. Bollinger from
performing his duties at St. Paul's when the scandal first erupted.
The diocese claimed that Bollinger misused money while rector at the
church. Bollinger said the diocese invented the claim as a means of
retaliation.

The win by Bollinger in church court brought this response by his
attorney, "It's further vindication of the position we've taken
Bollinger claims that years earlier, he alerted Episcopal officials
to Johnson's alleged sexual misconduct, but was rebuffed by
Gladstone." Johnson later resigned from the priesthood amid
allegations that he abused a young boy in the 1970s.

VOL believes that a thorough investigation and appropriate charges
should be brought against Bishop Adams similar to those brought
against Bishop Bennison.

* * *

The following story was sent to VOL after Ralph Johnson, former
rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Owego, was arraigned this
week by the police on 15 counts of involuntary deviate sexual
intercourse, a felony; 15 counts of indecent assault, a misdemeanor;
and 15 counts of corruption of minors.

The incidents, representing about 15 encounters between the suspect
and the alleged victim, happened at Johnson's home in Gibson
Township, Susquehanna County, between 1992 and 1995, according to a
police report.

VOL believes that the heinousness of these crimes should be made
public and Bishop Adams should be investigated for his lack of
inaction in dealing adequately with Johnson. The abused man has asked
to remain anonymous.

This started when I couldn't live with this burden any more dealing
with my molestation as a kid.

I googled Ralph Johnson's name and had a suspicion that his name was
out there.

I found all the articles (see links below) on how Fr. David Bollinger
was oppressed by the Central New York Diocese and how they did not
give him any credence and what they did to defame him.

For years, I hid this because it was virtually impossible to talk
about. Father Johnson always told me that no one would ever believe
me and that his actions were righteous. He would imply that it is his
word against mine and the CNY Diocese loves him, so good luck.

Funny thing, when I used to stay at Ralph's house, Michael Jackson
was going this convictions and Ralph defended Jackson, stating that
"the boy probably wanted it and his parents are jealous." I felt so
convicted that I contacted the State Troopers in Gibson, PA and gave
them a report and contacted the CNY Diocese. That same night, I
received an email from Fr. John Martinichio requesting that I call
him immediately. I contacted Fr. John and he told me that there were
allegations about Ralph Johnson and he told me over the phone that
Ralph Johnson was ordered to resign his ordination as a priest.

That was a lie, Ralph voluntarily resigned his orders.

Fr. John was not at all concerned about my well-being but he was
avid, first telling me that I should be reminded of my legal rights
and that it was probably beyond the statute of limitations, so in
essence, good luck. He didn't offer any counseling or any other kind
of assistance at that time nor did he seem to care. He also reminded
me that Ralph no longer worked for the Diocese so any implication of
him (Martinichio) would have no bearing on the CNY Diocese. This was
clearly an effort to exonerate himself and remove any guilt he might
have.

I was very disappointed in this phone call and felt victimized by it.
I felt that I was treated like a criminal for reporting abuse.

The following day, I contacted someone who used to be affiliated with
the Diocese and came to find out that this person had known of my
travels to Father Johnson's over the weekend in the 1990s and
reported it to the CNY Diocese in 2004.

Neither my family nor myself had ever received any sort of contact
from the CNY Diocese inquiring about the incident. To me what was the
most hurtful thing is the fact that they didn't care. This person
told me to contact the Diocese that I currently live in and open an
investigation.

I felt incredibly scared and cried for about an hour after that phone
call. I contacted the Diocese where I now reside and they opened an
investigation. They asked me a few questions and then sent it back to
the CNY Diocese. The person who worked with contacted me back. She
was rude about the fact that I had made contact with her and the
diocese but she did not yell at me. She was callous and showed that
she did her part and then offered up a 'leave me alone' mentality.
Later that night Fr. John contacted me and yelled at me for not
bringing it to his attention. He said he was going to make
arrangements for counseling.

The fact is that it took an outside source, another Diocese, before
they would offer any sort of counseling.

When I talked to my counselor, there was a sense of urgency from the
Diocese to rush through the counseling process so they could wash
their hands of it all and be done with it.

Last week I sent an email to Fr. John Martinichio but have heard
nothing back from him. I believe he owed me a simple, 'I hope you're
doing ok. I am sorry to see things went wrong,' but nothing at all.

I believe that the dioceses' pathetic damage control that made it
into the newspapers from the office of the Bishop, is just that,
pathetic. They do not have anyone else's concerns or intentions at
heart except to protect themselves.

As I think about all this I am not sure what is more nightmarish, my
horrific childhood experience or dealing with the CNY Diocese.

I plead with you if you are reading this, if you are a victim of
Ralph Johnson, please come forward and alert the authorities. I urge
you to, because this pedophilia pandemic that exists in our society
needs to stop, especially by those whom claim to speak for God and
those most coveted people who aim to bring us peace and love in our
lives -- the church.
