LEGENDARY MUKESH CHAND MATHUR

Those Who Live In The Hearts Of Men Never Die

By Vijay Kumar Dubey

I remember Mukesh in a high school in Delhi were both of
us were studying. I remember him leaving for Bombay in
1940 and remember many boys from our school going to see
his first film "Nirdosh" in which he started opposite
Nalini Jaywant.

I remember meeting him Bombay in 1942 where I had come to
live. We become inseparables. I remember Mukesh's painful
process of growth and self-discovery, the call of music,
the visit to various studios to meet music directors,
hours of waiting, being rejected as a "bad singers" or
"no singer", year after year I remember seeing no
bitterness in him.

When a sudden family tragedy left me, a young boy,
homeless and penniless in Bombay, I remember Mukesh
taking me to his one room flat at Walkeshwar and saying -
"From now on this is your home and all in it is yours."

I remember a night at Chowpatty when we sat hungry, with
pockets empty, and nowhere to go. The rent was not paid
and the landlord would not let us enter the flat.

I remember us sharing a few rupees we would earn and
remember him showing me a letter from Mazhar Art
Productions offering him 250/- per song to sing for
"Pehli Nazar".

I remember Kardar studios, the musicians poised to start,
maestro Anil Biswas getting ready to give the signal and
sound recordist P.N. Arora starting the recording machine
"Dil Jalta Hai" was recorded. A hush pervaded.

Mukesh skyrocketed to fame. I remember the arduous climb,
even then, step by painful step.

I remember seeing a golden haired, blue-eyed
irrepressible young man named Raj Kapoor entering the
film industry, dazzling all with his brilliance and
setting the industry on fire with his "Aag" I remember
him meeting Mukesh.

I remember attending his 30th wedding anniversary on July
22nd, 1976 and I remember being with him in a taxi to
whisk away his bride-to-be for the wedding where Motilal,
Tara Harish, R.D.Mathur and so many who loved him,
waited.

I remember Mukesh recording "Tulsi Ramayan" for H.M.V.
and seeing him spend hours every day perfecting his
pronunciations of Avadhi. I remember his heart attack in
Calcutta and seeing a copy of the Ramayan under his
pillow in the hospital.

I remember promising to take him to Badrinath Temple, on
his return from U.S.A., as the morning in that holy
temple begins with the playing of his records of "Tulsi
Ramayan". But it was not to be.

I remember him start concerts in foreign land with the
song "Hum Us Desh Ke Waasi Hain, Jis Desh Main Ganga
Bahti Hai". I remember him being proud of his country
and the values it represented.

I remember a plaque which he brought from America a few
years ago, which still hangs in his music room at home. I
remember the inscription:

That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often
and loved much;

who has gained the respect, of intelligent men and the
love of children;

who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;

who leaves the world better that he found it, whether by
an improved poppy;

a perfect poem or a rescued soul;

who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or filled
to express it;

who looked for the best in others and gave the best he
had.

Monotheism - One God

The religion of Islam is based on one core belief, that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah. When a person embraces Islam or a Muslim wants to renew or confirm his or her faith, they profess their belief that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad is His final messenger. Ashadu an la ill laha il Allah wa Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah, Saying these words, the Testimony of Faith, is the first of five pillars or foundations of the religion of Islam. Belief in God is the first of six pillars of faith.[1]

Muslims believe that there is only One God. He alone is the Sustainer and Creator of the universe. He is without partners, children, or associates. He is the Most Merciful, the Most Wise, and the Most Just. He is the all hearer, all seer, and the all knowing. He is the First , He is the Last.

"Say (O Muhammad), He is Allah, (the) One. Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks). He begets not, nor was He begotten; And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (Quran 112)

"He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything. Such is Allah, your Lord! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Creator of all things. So worship Him (Alone), and He is the Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, over all things. No vision can grasp Him, but His Grasp is over all vision. He is the Most Subtle and Courteous, Well- Acquainted with all things." (Quran 6:101-103)

This belief is sometimes called Monotheism which is derived from the Greek words 'monos' meaning only and 'theos' meaning god. It is a relatively new word in the English language and it is used to denote a supreme being Who is all-powerful, the One who is responsible for life, the One who rewards or punishes. Monotheism is directly opposed to Polytheism, which is belief in more than one god, and to Atheism, a disbelief in all deities.

If we were to take into consideration the general meaning of the word 'monotheism' Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Zoroastrianism, and some Hindu philosophies could all be included. However it is, more commonplace to refer to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as the three monotheistic religions and group them together; nonetheless, there are glaring differences between Christianity and Islam.

The concept of a trinity inherent in most Christian denominations ostensibly includes aspects of plurality. The belief that one God is some how three divinities (father, son, and holy spirit) contradicts the concept of Monotheism inherent in Islam, where the Oneness of God is unquestionable. Some Christian groups, including those known as Unitarians believe that God is One and cannot be God and human at the same time. They take the words of Jesus in John 17:3, "the One True God" literally. However, the vast majority of Christians do not share this belief.

In the religion of Islam belief in One God, without partners or associates is essential. It is the focal point of the religion and it is the essence of the Quran. The Quran calls on humankind to worship God alone and to give up worshipping false gods or associates. The Quran urges us to look at the wonders of creation and understand God's greatness and power, and it speaks directly of His names, attributes, and actions. The Quran commands us to reject anything that is worshipped instead of, or along with God.

"And I (God) created not the jinns and humankind except they should worship Me (Alone)." (Quran 51:56)

Islam is often referred to as pure monotheism. It is not adulterated with strange concepts or superstitions. Belief in One God entails certainty. Muslims worship God alone, He has no partners, associates, or helpers. Worship is directed solely to God, for He is the only One worthy of worship. There is nothing greater than God Alone.

"Praise and thanks be to God, and peace be on His slaves whom He has chosen (for His Message)! Is God better, or (all) that you ascribe as partners (to Him)?" (Of course, God is Better)

Is not He (better than your gods) Who created the heavens and the earth, and sends down for you water (rain) from the sky, whereby We cause to grow wonderful gardens full of beauty and delight? It is not in your ability to cause the growth of their trees. Is there any god with God? Nay, but they are a people who ascribe equals (to Him)!

Is not He (better than your gods) Who has made the earth as a fixed abode, and has placed rivers in its midst, and has placed firm mountains therein, and has set a barrier between the two seas (of salt and sweet water). Is there any god with God? Nay, but most of them know not.

Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations. Is there any god with God? Little is that you remember!

Is not He (better than your gods) Who guides you in the darkness of the land and the sea, and Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain)? Is there any god with God? High Exalted be God above all that they associate as partners (to Him)!

Is not He (better than your so-called gods) Who originates creation, and shall thereafter repeat it, and Who provides for you from heaven and earth? Is there any god with God? Say, "Bring forth your proofs, if you are truthful." (Quran 27:59-64)

Indian man's answer to 'India's Daughter' is 'United
Kingdom's Daughters', a film on rapes in UK

New Delhi: After the broadcast of a BBC documentary by
Leslee Udwin 'India's Daughter' which deals with the
brutal and horrific gangrape, and murder of a 23-year-old
paramedical student popularly called Nirbhaya, the world
is looking at India as a 'country of rapists'. The
documentary shows the convicted rapists and murders
blaming girls for the crime and defending their crime.

Now in response to Udwin's 'India's Daughter', a
documentary made by an Indian Harvinder Singh titled
'United Kingdom's Daughters' reveals the situation is
much worse in western nations and 250 women in the UK are
raped daily.

The documentary claims that "10 per cent of UK women said
they experienced sexual victimisation."

The documentary reveals that the situation is much worse
in western nations and 250 women in the UK are raped
daily.

There was a lot of controversy after Delhi gangrape
convict Mukesh Singh, who featured in the documentary,
held girls more responsible than men for rapes. "You
can't clap with one hand. It takes two hands to clap. A
decent girl won't roam at around 9'o clock at night. A
girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy," Singh
asserted.

According to the documentary 'United Kingdom's
Daughters', one-third of Britons believe women are
responsible for rape. It also claims that killing figures
are low in the UK as women do not resist rape.

The same was said by death row convict Mukesh. He
admitted that had the girl not fought back or resisted,
they would have not killed her and just beat up her male
friend who had accompanied her on the ill-fated night of
December 16, 2012.

Moreover, in UK not all rape survivors get justice as
only 10 per cent rapists are convicted in the country,
says the documentary.

The sole witness to the brutal Delhi gangrape, Avanindra
Pandey, also hit out at the BBC filmmaker saying, "The
facts are hidden and the content is fake. Only Jyoti and
I know what happened on that night and the documentary is
far from truth. The filmmaker has not done her research
properly."

Pandey added, "A controversy was created unnecessarily
and was sensationalised. The documentary made fun of
emotions and questioned the law and order situation in
our country."

But as Harvinder Singh claims in 'United Kingdom's
Daughters', rape is a global phenomena and the mentality
of those committing the heinous crime is the same all
over the world.

Sexual Victimisation in the UK may mean not getting a job because you are a
woman.
India is the rape, honour killing, FGM, acid attack, dowry killing capital
of the world.
About time this was attended to.

[Caption] Home Secretary Theresa May said she had agreed
to remove any cut-off date for claims which can be
investigated by the probe

Child sex abuse is 'woven, covertly, into the fabric' of
British society, Home Secretary Theresa May has warned.

The Conservative politician announced this week that a
new judge-led inquiry into historic child abuse will
investigate allegations from before the 1970s.

But she said the public are yet to grasp the full scale
of the scandal, with the allegations so far amounting to
the 'tip of the iceberg'.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Mrs May said: 'We already
know the trail will lead into our schools and hospitals,
our churches, our youth clubs and many other institutions
that should have been places of safety but instead became
the setting for the most appalling abuse.

How will such films - made with deceitful intent,
deceitful method and deceitful money - help reduce rape
in India (or anywhere else)? Yes, we must address our own
wrongs - and it certainly will help, won't it, that the
rape-prone West teach us how? - google "Britain's
Daughters and America's Daughters".

Sexual Victimisation in the UK may mean not getting a job because you are a
woman.
India is the rape, honour killing, FGM, acid attack, dowry killing capital
of the world.
About time this was attended to.

Indian man's answer to 'India's Daughter' is 'United
Kingdom's Daughters', a film on rapes in UK

Watch: United Kingdom's Daughters - YouTube

Also See: Nirbhaya's friend, who was with her on the
fateful night, calls 'India's Daughter' a fake film
