Muslims learned what white christians were like inthe Crusades mate

Muslims now KNOW what jews are like

Muslims KNOW justice ALWAYS takes time mate

the pictures and statues of JUSTICE show she has a big sword and a set
of SCALES

No clock needed mate

JUSTICE IS INEVITABLE for every last drop of muslim blood EVER shed

its only a matter of time, Muslims simply dont care how long it takes
to bleed western taxpayers to death and remove Israel and punish the
jewish war criminals

it took several centuries to bleed western taxpayers to death/ =dark
ages , during the Crusades , that left 500 years of world peace and
the golden age of sciences arts and civilizations flourished around
the world once western taxpayers ran out of money to fund endless
unwinnable wars

Thank GOD western taxpayers are AGAIN bankrupt and world PEACE is
imminent

One web site lists the producer as Corporate Pictures and the release
date as Saturday, January 1, 1955. But it is difficult to visualize
a flop with Pran in it. A friend who passed on recently was a
walking Filmfare and imdb rolled into one. He would bug everyone
with his favorite trivia question: in how many films did Pran not
play and villain and which ones? Who would want to see a film in
which he played any other role!

As for Badi Mushki song, just enjoy the absolutely flawless
rendering by Lataji. And the wordings by Shailendra, depicting
the conflicts in a young maiden's mind leaving adolescence
and entering youth Very beautiful.

Re Pran, one that I can recall was Aah (1953), where Pran played
the role of Rajkapoor's doctor friend. Rajkapoor's character
discovers he is going to die of TB in a short time, but he
hides that fact from Nargis's character, and persuades
Pran's character to marry her.

The other I recall was a comedy type, named "Do Jasoos",
(mid 70s) or something like that. I remember the last scene
in which one of them (as a comic sequence) is seen
walking in a Burqa.

Pran in a scene from "Do Jasoos":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cHdVomdjAM

I don't recall if Pran smoked a cigarette in the doctor role in
"Aah", nor think that his non-villain roles did him good or the
films at the box office.

They certainly do say "gorf", "goff" or "gurufu" instead of "golf", and people

A Pedophile Mind: As sentencing approaches, priest pours out sexual
history hoping for probation, gets notoriety instead

By Kay Ebeling
City of Angels in Santa Barbara
Friday, January 29, 2010

Fr. Van Handel felt he was "a failure with nothing to live for" soon
after news broke that he molested choir boys, his therapist said.
Facing justice, the pedophile priest wrote out a history of his sex
life and gave it to the Court while requesting probation, answering
questions about what is wrong inside the Church inadvertently and the
role of priests that led to this nationwide epidemic of pedophilia.

His sexual outpouring did not earn the felon priest probation, he was
sentenced to 8 years, served four in prison, four on parole, and
since 1992 has lived close to his therapists outside Santa Cruz.
Today at City of Angels we look at the state of Van Handel's mind
between arrest and sentencing and how his cooperation got his sexual
autobiography into the public record.

He wanted to tell it to the world

The arresting officer wrote, "Van Handel made it clear he wanted full
disclosure of his acting-out history." His therapist wrote: "Full
disclosures to the best of his ability to recall has a therapeutic
effect which outweighs the risk factor associated with the actual
sentencing."

As we read through his "sexual autobiography" and the Probation
Report, an image appears of a nervous priest who knows in 1994 that
any day he will be named as one of the pedophiles at St. Anthony's.
Once accused, Van Handel jets off to St. Luke's in Maryland where he
spends seven months with 32 other sexually charged priests

Van Handel watches as more news is released about St. Anthony's
seminary in Santa Barbara. Before his sentencing, I sense almost
Stockholm Syndrome in the way Van Handel agrees to cooperate with the
police, telling them everything, almost like this sick priest saw in
the detectives the father confessors he'd always been looking for in
the Church.

Whatever his motivation for writing out the 27-page single space
typed document, so much is revealed in it about life behind the
cloistered doors of the seminary, the secretiveness, the totally
inexperienced adult men teaching boys about sexuality. We will write
more about Van Handel's strange mutation from a freshman who wouldn't
dare touch his genitals to the choir director who rubbed and tickled
the genitals of hundreds, picking freely from a steady stream of 8 to
14-year olds at his disposal.

By the way, we are not on a bounty hunt for the head of Van Handel on
a stick. He is just one of six thousand, one of the perhaps ten
thousand Catholic priests who turned out to be pedophiles ravaging
children of parish families in the last sixty or so years in the USA,
six thousand that we know of. Believe it or not, Van Handel's crimes
and just one more installment as the stories slowly come out about
the pedophile epidemic in the Catholic Church.

Here, today, we're exploring what was going on in the mind of this
perpetrator priest the weeks before his arrest as he waited for the
"crisis to hit," and the way his life changed after the arrest and
conviction, including what I feel is pampering at treatment centers,
especially when you compare the treatment this convicted pedophile
priest gets to what was done to the lives of pedophile priests'
victims, and where many of us are today.

Many readers have queried, how did the sexual autobiography end up in
the public record in the first place?

The arresting officer, Mike McGrew of the Santa Barbara Police
Department, describes getting the sexual autobiography into evidence,
in his report attached to the Probation Report:

"When I arrested Van Handel, I served a search warrant in his room at
the St. Francis Retreat in San Juan Bautista, California. I recovered
several pieces of evidence which included various correspondence,
letters written by Van Handel, a diary, (January 1993 to March 1994)
written by Van Handel, and an autobiography written by Van Handel."
Where "he describes his pedophile feelings and mentions 'trust' as a
tool for his unlawful acts.

"Van Handel also describes the Santa Barbara Boys Choir as being 'a
constant supply of attractive little boys.'"

His therapist wrote: "Mr. Van Handel made it clear that he wanted
full disclosure of his acting-out history as a step in controlling
his pedophilic tendencies," in a letter included in the Probation
Report.

I see a state of panic developing in Van Handel during the months
between his arrest and conviction.

The MSW continues that Van Handel, "said he fully recognized that his
full and candid disclosures increased the risk of additional or
maximum sentencing versus the possibility of parole and out-patient
treatment. However, he feels full disclosures to the best of his
ability to recall has a therapeutic effect which outweighs the risk
factor associated with the actual sentencing.

Van Handel molested so many boys he couldn't keep them straight.

HERE IN HIS OWN WORDS:

What Happened the Weeks Before Van Handel was Sentenced that Led to
His Releasing his Sexual Autobiography, for which we are grateful

(NOTE: As I'm typing this stuff, I INTERJECT IN PARENTHESES AND ALL
CAPS WHAT COMES TO MY MIND IN THE PROCESS, and we try to open and
close quotes so you can clearly see where I'm copy typing and where
I'm going off on my own rant.)

After finishing his MA at UCSF in History in June of 1991

(WHAT A WASTE OF GOOD EDUCATION RESOURCES)

"I was asked to work in the Provincial office. I had been listless
and unhappy, could not describe any job that would interest me, and
was generally depressed. The Boys Choir hired a new director. I was
replaced by another administrator in Santa Barbara, and with somewhat
heavy heart moved to Berkeley.

"I worked in Oakland at our provincial office, mainly doing
secretarial work. As I had nothing else I wanted to do, I was not
dissatisfied, but clearly this would be a transition job.

"Sexually I was continuing to masturbate to images both of women and
boys, and occasionally I would see FEMALE FRIEND in secret of course.

"The Year sort of bumped along taking me with it.

"In December I visited the choir in Santa Barbara, but already there
were boys I had never met. I felt welcomed but estranged. There was a
dispute going on about the new director, and I was drawn into the
controversy. That was not pleasant.

"In April I joined some of my family for a 10K race in the Redwoods.

"Then in May the letter of intervention arrived.

"This was addressed to me with copies sent to several church
officials, including the Provincial, confronting me with a
molestation of perhaps ten years earlier."

(VAN HANDEL DIDDLED SO MANY BOYS, HE CAN'T KEEP THEM ALL STRAIGHT)

"The people who had sent the letter had been my best friends. The
tone of the letter was stern, but the writers tried to point out that
by forcing me to get help they were not only protecting other boys,
but helping me as well.

"Since this time they have become very hostile.

(I BET THAT'S AN UNDERSTATEMENT)

"I sat down with my Provincial and a couple of good friends that same
night and told them the accusations were true and that there were
many other instances of similar behavior."

(SEE HE SPENT MORE THAN A YEAR ANTICIPATING THIS MOMENT AND THEN
STARTED POURING IT ALL OUT.)

"I was somewhat t in shock, but I was not overly surprised that the
secret was finally out.

"My confreres promised support and action, and a few days later I
left for St. Luke's Institute in Suitland, Maryland, near Washington
D.C. There I was interviewed and tested in every way possible,
including medical examinations and a brain scan."

(HAS ANYONE SHOWED AS MUCH INTEREST IN THE EFFECTS OF PEDOPHILIA ON
THE VICTIMS?)

(Part 2: More from Sexual Autobiography of Franciscan Pedophile
Priest, Robert Van Handel, actual Santa Barbara Story Part 8, Part 2)

"The brain scan was a fairly disturbing procedure, but the 32 clergy
patients at the hospital (St. Luke's is a psychiatric hospital) kept
assuring me that I would make it."

(HAS THE CHURCH EVER GOTTEN 32 VICTIMS TOGETHER IN GROUP THERAPY TO
THIS KIND OF EXTENT?

Has anyone anywhere ever paid this much attention to the crime
victims?

HAS ANYONE DONE RESEARCH ON WHAT THESE PRIESTS" CRIMES DID TO US?)

More:

"At the end of the week at St. Luke's my provincial flew out and
together we listened to the psychological and medical evaluation. At
this point I felt devastated. The psychiatrist emphasized the
seriousness of the problem, which he diagnosed as pedophilia, same
sex non-exclusive, and recommended that I begin treatment as soon as
possible. I remember one of the interviewing therapists reading a
summary of my life history. I was asked if I wanted to say anything.

"In an emotional outburst I said, 'I don't know how you can say those
things about my father. He's a very good man!

"Trying to calm me, she stated that she was only repeating
information I had given her.

"It was decided that in ten days I would return as a patient.

"I felt convicted and sentenced.

"My depression became more acute. I just wanted to die. On the six
hour flight back to San Francisco, I stared out the window and was
silent."

(I'M SORRY I HAVE TO INTERJECT HERE, DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT TUNNEL
VISION:

"I FELT CONVICTED AND DEVASTATED, ALL THE WAY BACK ON THE FLIGHT TO
SAN FRANCISCO"

Do you think they flew coach? What did he get to eat and drink from
then all the way to the provincial palace where he continued to be
well fed and tended)

More:

"St. Luke Institute was originally founded by a priest psychiatrist
to treat alcoholic clergy. When it became clear that there was a need
for treating sex addiction, the SLI adapted its program.

"It is well staffed and expensive. Generally the program lasts seven
months, but I was there for thirteen months."

(MAN, WHAT I COULD DO WITH THIRTEEN MONTHS OF IN HOUSE THERAPY.

or one month for that matter.

SEE WHY SURVIVORS ARE PISSED AT THE CHURCH?

None of us got treated anywhere near this good by anyone, anywhere.)

More:

"I had individual therapy twice a week, small group therapy, 8 men
and a therapist, three times a week. Large groups twice a week, and
then psychosocial and other plums thrown in at various times. There
were also educational features and workshops on eating disorders,
rational thinking, family dynamics, etc.

"Every night we went to a 12-step meeting. On weekends one could get
permission to go into Washington for the day.

"I became an expert tour guide of the Smithsonian Museum."

(DO TOURISTS IN D.C. HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW THESE GUYS ARE WANDERING
AROUND THE SMITHSONIAN? Why are they wandering around the
Smithsonian?)

More:

"I started the St. Luke's program feeling very miserable and quite
sure that if anyone should find out what I had done, I would be
ostracized.

"So I tried to say as little as possible. I spent a lot of time
reading novels."

BLAH-BLAH-BLAH LINES AND LINES one long paragraph of SELF INVOLVED
NAVEL GAZING Some quick cuts:)

"Afterwards the other patients greeted me with hugs."

"I just sobbed."

"Much less often did I slip into this extreme self-pity."

(AS A SURVIVOR, I CRIED EVERY DAY FROM 2006 TO 2009, EVERY DAY FOR
THREE YEARS straight, it's finally over by the way, DID PERMANENT EYE
DAMAGE

I've never gotten any help from the Church. )

More:

"I improved and became more active in the program."

"I felt safe because of the support of the institute."

"I started taking Depo-Provera injections. Anti-depressants.

"I had many crises as my conduct in Santa Barbara became more public,
but from each crisis, I recovered."

"The major crisis was when I was told that I had been on the front
page of the Santa Barbara paper. And that one of the victims had been
on television saying what I had done to him.

"I fell apart.

"Actually I went into a kind of trance. I just started at a blank
wall and didn't hear anything. My friends became alarmed and called
the duty nurse. Later my therapist asked me to please try not to have
a crisis at 10:30 PM on a Saturday night."

(CAN'T HELP BUT STOP HERE AND THINK OF THE LAST TIME I WAS
HOSPITALIZED L.A. County USC General Hospital sent me to one of their
psych places as I was going nuts ..., I didn't see a doctor for six
days, THEN MD GOT BACK FROM VACATION, AND ALL HE DID WAS RELEASE ME,
with bus fare home. I never got any treatment at all in the six days,
all the doc did was release me, no follow-up. Had to start writing
this blog to keep from going insane.

Again, I've never gotten any help from the Church. )

More:

"Connected with my public notoriety was what the church alls 'public
scandal'

"As a result my Provincial told me that I could not again function as
a Catholic priest.

"Although I knew this was coming, I was, and still am, devastated.

"When I realized that my case was becoming public, I decided that I
needed to tell my parents about the sexual acting out, about the
molestations, and also about the women. My mother was in stunned
silence. What happened next says a lot about my family. BLACKED OUT
sat with my mother who kept muttering that she couldn't understand
how I could do such things. Weren't priests given special graces so
that they had no sexual feelings? What had gone wrong.

(HUH? WEREN'T PRIESTS GIVEN SPECIAL GRACES SO THAT THEY HAD NO SEXUAL
FEELINGS?

Is that the Pap you guys have been believing all these years?

NO WONDER THIS HAPPENED.

Plus look at this hyper tunnel vision over-Catholicized reaction of
his father here:)

More:

"My dad marched into his room and said, 'I'm going to the store, does
anyone need anything from Safeway?' My sister asked if he had
understood what I had said. Dad said, 'You can't do anything about
that, it's all in God's hands.' Out to Safeway he went."

(OKAY, I gotta say this, to me this is very revealing. AND WHAT A COP
OUT. You don't have to feel anything, be responsible, take actions to
make up for my wrongs, you just give put it all in God's hands.

DO YOU REALLY THINK GOD WANTS YOUR PEDOPHILE SON, NO REPAIRS MADE? I
CAN'T HELP FEELING this misplaced mercy is the main reason all these
guys got away with pedophilia on the parish children for so long, and
if religious people want to just give the problem to God, pedophiles
and will probably get away with it among your priests again.

HONEST, I THINK GOD WOULD BE ANGRY IF YOU JUST LEFT THIS PROBLEM SIT
IDLE. And he just might smite the whole human race, considering how
disgusted as he could get.

Human beings created these crimes and the environment they thrived
in.

Humans have to stop turning the other way and take responsibility,
change the things in the church that allowed this behavior to thrive,

BUT THIS ATTITUDE THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING, just turn it
over to God? Not only are you thoughtlessly re-victimizing the
victims, but Jesus himself is probably turning over in his grave.)

More:

"And my therapist said, 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.'"

(NO, FATHER ROBERT, YOU DON'T GET TO PASS THE BUCK ON TO SOMEONE
ELSE, LIKE YOUR DAD)

"After seven months I graduated from the main program, (at St.
Luke's) but all concerned agreed that in many ways I had only just
scratched the surface of my search for self understanding.

(THIS GUY HAS TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS, make him get a job, and
support himself.)

"Things in Santa Barbara were still hot and I was in no rush to jump
into the caldron."

AFTER HE LEFT ST. LUKE'S.

"Arranged to meet with a therapist in San Jose."

"I left St. Luke's frightened of what lay before me but pleased with
the work I had done there.

"Upon viewing my old room at Berkeley, I was assigned A forensic
psychologist, who told me I would get group therapy for child
molesters instead of individual."

(I WONDER IF THEY SERVE COOKIES)

"I stared in disbelief.

"I told Tom that without a therapist I would self destruct, I
wouldn't make it. In my distress I felt I was being set up to fail, a
feeling that has arisen in various situations since.

"As I found out more about Pacific Treatment Center, I developed
reasons why I should not be involved.

"Then they said I could have my individual therapist as long as he
was in my small group. So I agreed to try PTA.

*(Reading these docs, it appears Robert Van Handel was in a state of
panicked penance when he allowed the Court to introduce the memoir
into public record, The "sexual autobiography" reveals so much to
this reader about the inner workings of the Catholic Church, the
environment that allowed this epidemic to flourish.)

(Probably writing the Sexual Autobiography is the best thing Fr.
Robert Van Handel ever did in his life.) Part 1 is here

(Actually this Santa Barbara Story Part 9, part 2, but who can keep
track of all this?)

70 Irish-born priests named as abusers in U.S.

By Patrick Roberts, IrishCentral.com Staff Writer

Friday, January 29, 2010

* News - Boston Archdiocese admits Irish sex abuse priests worked in its parishes

* News - Former Bishop says Murphy report wrong over blanket cover-up of child sex abuse

A total of 70 Irish priests who worked in the U.S. have been accused
of sexual abuse of children.

The U.S. website, www.Bishopaccountability.org, has published the
list of the priests who have been accused of pedophile activities
either in the U.S. or Ireland.

Among the list is the most infamous abuser of all, Brendan Smyth, who
brought down an Irish government.

The website says Smyth "offended in both Northern Ireland and the
Republic, and in both Providence RI and Fargo ND in the United
States, and pleaded guilty to 96 counts of child molestation in 1997,
after the Irish government fell over the mishandling of his case."

Another name is that of Anthony O'Connell, bishop of Palm Beach FL
and Knoxville TN, who "molested boys at a seminary he ran in
Jefferson City MO, and who resigned his bishopric when his many
victims began to come forward in 2002."

Also named is Oliver O'Grady, subject of a television documentary,
who is now living in Ireland. He "was deported after he served prison
time in California, where he is alleged to have abused as many as 50
boys and girls."

Another well known name is Patrick Colleary, "now residing in Ireland
after he was indicted for abuse in Phoenix AZ and fled the country. A
request for his extradition was denied."

The names of all 70 accused are carried on the site and their alleged
offenses.

The Irish names were compiled after Boston victim groups asked the
archdiocese there to publish the names of Irish-born priests
suspected of abuse after the Irish scandals erupted.

In addition to Smyth, the names also include Joseph T. Maguire, a
priest from the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire, who was
convicted of molesting more than a dozen boys in the state, and who
died in 2005.

A Boston spokesman said Smyth, who was based in Kilnacrott Abbey, in
County Cavan, died in prison in 1997, and worked in the archdiocese
for just two days in 1991,even though he was wanted at the time. The
archdiocese stated they had no knowledge of arrest warrants against
him.

It's good that criminals are being brought to justice. We need also for
criminal asstrollogers to be uncovered and brought to justice.

Businessman remanded to police custody in rape case

Mumbai (PTI): A local court on Saturday remanded the 60-year-old
businessman, who allegedly raped his two daughters after a tantrik
reportedly told him that the act would bring prosperity to the family,
to police custody till March 26.

His wife and the tantrik, Hasmukh Rathod, at whose behest the crime was
supposedly committed, were also remanded to police custody till March 26.

The prosecution sought an extension of their custody, which ended on
Saturday, to further investigate if some other persons were victimised
by Rathod and whether the family, along with the tantrik was involved in
any kind of flesh trade.

According to police, the couple was under the influence of Rathod who
told them in July 2000 that the family would prosper if the father was
to have a sexual relationship with his elder daughter, who was then 11.

The 20-year-old victim, who had been silent about her ordeal for nine
years, showed the courage to approach the police after her father
attempted to rape her younger sister (16) too.

The common thread in all these rapes is the presence of asstrollogers,
who are the curse of India.

Pervert Andrew Lumber sentenced for child sex pictures

Worcester News
Thursday, January 28, 2010

A graduate who helped his wife run a church youth club has admitted
downloading more than 2,000 disgusting images of children from the
internet.

Police found them on Andrew Lumber's computer when they raided his
home in Colford Close, Droitwich, on September 18, 2008.

He admitted possessing child porn when he appeared at Worcester Crown
Court.

Nearly 650 of the images were at the most serious level and there
were more than 40 moving images, 11 of which were rated serious, said
Kerry Moreton, prosecuting.

The pictures showed children aged between six months and 16 years.

Lumber told police that he was only interested in children aged about
12. He had not distributed pictures to anyone else.

Julian Harris, defending, submitted references and said that Lumber,
who had no previous convictions, lost his job when his employers
heard about the case.

He was suffering from depression at the time. He had few friends but
his wife was standing by him and his family had been supportive. He
had been disgusted and ashamed when police had showed him the images,
which he found abhorrent.

Judge Amjad Nawaz said that although the offence passed the custody
threshhold, he was making a three-year community order for Lumber to
receive treatment.

He would be supervised by the probation service for three years and
have to undertake a community sex offender group work programme.

He would have to register as a sex offender for five years and would
be subject to a sexual offences prevention order for the same time.
He was ordered to pay UKP 352 costs.

The judge said that Lumber had been to university and was married, an
advantage many others did not have, and that religion played a major
part in his life.

The youth group which Lumber helped his wife to run was the Sacred
Heart Youth Club, based at the Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint
Catherine of Alexandria, Worcester Road, Droitwich.

After the hearing, a spokeman for the Arch-diocese of Birmingham,
which oversees all catholic churches in Worcestershire, said: "Mr
Lumber has not been involved in any form of youth work in the
Catholic Church since these matters came to light. The Catholic
Church in England and Wales has well developed procedures in place to
protect children and vunerable adults. These matters are always taken
extremely seriously."

Mumbai, March 19: The country has found its Josef Fritzl in a
50-year-old businessman who raped his daughter for nine years through
her teens into adulthood believing it would bring financial prosperity
to his family.

Kishore Bachhubhai Chauhan, who manufactures and sells radium number
plates for automobiles, was arrested late yesterday night along with his
wife Anjana, 46, a willing accomplice.

Chauhan, a father of two, raped his elder daughter, now 21, repeatedly
for almost a decade on the advice of an astrologer who claimed to
possess tantrik knowledge.

The astrologer, Hasmukh Rathod, was in turn encouraged by Chauhan to
rape both his daughters, the younger being 15 years old. Rathod has also
been taken into custody.

[....]

Chauhan and his wife have been consulting Rathod, who was known to
Anjana before marriage, for 20 years. In June 2000, Rathod told the
couple, at the time going through a rough patch, their financial
prospects would improve if the father had sexual relations with the
elder daughter, then aged 12.

The girl has said in the complaint that Chauhan and Rathod had sex with
her several times over the last nine years with the knowledge and
consent of Anjana, said Shashikant Mahavarkar, additional
superintendent of police, Thane.

Maithili Jha, the subdivisional police officer of Mira Road, said the
couple started their sexual relationship with Rathod soon after marriage.

The Chauhans and Rathod have admitted they were involved in group sex
activities before they began subjecting their elder daughter to sexual
abuse. Rathod chanted mantras before indulging in sex, and most of the
time his Andheri residence was the location for the abuse, Jha said.

Bridgeport - A Fairfield University graduate under federal indictment
for sexually abusing underprivileged Haitian boys through his charity
that provided them with food, shelter and schooling now faces more
charges.

Douglas Perlitz, the founder of Project Pierre Toussaint in Cap-
Haitien, Haiti's second-largest city, was charged Thursday by a
federal grand jury with sexually abusing nine more boys in his
program.

The charity was established with millions in donations from wealthy
Fairfield and Westchester County residents, many with ties to the
Fairfield University community, and Perlitz was honored by the
university with an honorary degree in 2002 for his charitable
enterprise.

Perlitz now faces nine charges of traveling from Connecticut to Haiti
to engage in sex with minors and 10 charges of engaging in sex with
minors in a foreign land.

The new indictment brings to 18 the number of boys who Assistant U.S.
Attorney Krishna Patel and Stephen Reynolds claim were abused
sexually by Perlitz between 1998 and 2008.

Because of the new charges, Perlitz, who is being held without bond
at the Wyatt Detention Center in Rhode Island, will be brought to
federal court in New Haven at 9 a.m. Feb. 2. He will appear before
U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton to enter new not guilty
pleas.

It also could prompt William F. Dow III and David Grudberg, Perlitz's
defense lawyers, to ask for a postponement in the scheduled May 3
trial date.

"As the U.S. attorney acknowledged, an indictment is only a charge
and is not evidence of guilt," said Dow. "Doug Perlitz is entitled to
a fair trial at which it is the government's burden to prove guilty
beyond a reasonable doubt."

Nor does it seem that the grand jury's work is completed.

Federal investigators have been looking into how the money raised
through donations to the Haiti Fund was used after being transferred
to a Haitian bank account Perlitz controlled.

The indictment alleges that Perlitz attempted to buy his victims'
silence with meals, clothes and electronic gifts.

Fairfield University hired its own lawyer to investigate how money on
campus for the program was spent.

While the indictment identifies the victims by initials, it does not
list specific dates that the alleged abuse took place. In most cases
it lists only the years that the incidents may have taken place.

Last week, Perlitz's defense team filed a motion to dismiss the
original indictment claiming it lacked specificity by not identifying
the dates and places where the alleged abuses occurred.

"The omission of more detailed allegations about the defendant's
alleged foreign travel is more than a mere technicality and instead
strikes at the heart of the constitutional indictment requirement,"
Dow and Grudberg maintain in their dismissal motion.

They point out that Perlitz spent 11 years in Haiti.

"It is quite possible that months, or even years, could have passed
between any foreign travel and the sexual conduct alleged in the
indictment," the defense team maintains.

If convicted, Perlitz faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 30
years and a fine of up to $250,000 on each of the 19 charges.

U.S. Attorney Nora Dannehy said in a statement the investigation is
continuing and asked that anyone with information about the case call
203-773-2029.

Campaign against child sexual abuse launched

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI MARCH 3. A recent study of 357 female students in Delhi
reveals that 63 per cent of them had suffered some form of child sexual
abuse (CSA). Sakshi, the organisation that conducted the study, also
found that 22 per cent fell in the category of very serious abuse, and
the abusers in 20 per cent of the cases were persons they had complete
faith in -- fathers, relatives or family friends.

Recognising the need for collective action to combat such abuse, which
is rampant but insidious, six non-government organisations (NGOs) from
the Capital today launched a national campaign against child sexual
abuse. The campaign, by the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN), Snehi,
Angaja Foundation, Saarthak, Butterflies and Haq, aims to create
awareness and sensitise stakeholders including the police, judiciary,
lawyers and doctors in dealing with cases of CSA, break the myths and
social stigma associated with the offence, provide a platform for people
to discuss the issue, and work with the stakeholders to establish an
alternative support system for the victims.

The vice-chairperson of Snehi, Jyoti Uplenchwar, called for the police,
judiciary and doctors to cooperate with NGOs so that the victim was
comforted and not traumatised further.

Ms. Uplenchwar spoke of the immense psychological trauma a child goes
through after he or she is abused. "The trauma also affects the future
of the child,'' she said. Representatives from other NGOs also
highlighted the fact that several cases of CSA went unreported due to
parents' fear of social ostracism and the child was often made to feel
ashamed and guilty, resulting in self-blame and long-term psychological
damage to the child.

``Unless NGOs intervene, the child receives no help from any government
agency,'' said Raka Sinha Bal of the Angaja Foundation. She said that
the system was not sensitive to the child victim. Some of the NGOs are
involved in sensitising and training judges of the lower courts and
police officers in dealing with such cases.

Convenor of the campaign and Director, HRLN, Aparna Bhat, pointed out
that there was much delay and harassment to the victim through the
justice delivery system itself. Javed Abidi, uncle of a four-year-old
child abused by a teacher in the recent case at Mirambika school, said
the family's experience with the system had been extremely frustrating.
After the child gave his statement to the Metropolitan and Link
Magistrates, the case was transferred to the court of another magistrate
after an application filed by the defence lawyers without the knowledge
of the victim's family. "We have found that many other countries have
far more child-friendly laws than India,'' he asserted.

Ms. Bhat felt that the law did not deal with the offence adequately.
This was also reportedly the complaint of judges and prosecutors in a
study conducted in the lower courts. As of now, punishment for child
sexual abuse is handed down after interpretation of laws related to
offences against women. She advocated amendment of the law providing for
in-camera hearings, in cases where children were the victims, to allow a
person they were comfortable with and an NGO representative to assist
them during the trial. Ms. Bhat added that the accused need not be
present at the trial, as this only added to the child's mental agony.

The Link Between Astrology and Prejudice
January 11, 2010

some of them from psychics and astrologers.

I thought a brief examination of the underlying principles of astrology
deserve some consideration. Unlike astrologers, I dont think that
people should be stereotyped and subjected to prejudice. (I use
prejudice in its original meaning: forming an opinion about a person or
group on the basis of generalizations, assumptions, or stereotypes.)

Yet if you think about it, thats the basis of astrology. For example,
astrologer Sasha Fenton, author of Astrology for Wimps , writes that
astrology is for people who want to understand themselves, their
friends, and their loved ones With no more than a date of birth to go
on, we can see where people are coming from, and how they are likely to
impact our lives You can apply [astrology] to others who share the same
signs (p. 9-10).

The basic premise of astrology is that people who were born at certain
times and places share distinguishing personality characteristics.
Libras, for example, are said to be diplomatic, refined, idealistic, and
sociable; Capricorns are responsible, disciplined, hard-working,
demanding, and so on. Tens of millions of people know something about
their sun signs and read their daily horoscopes.

There are some interesting parallels between racism and astrology. For
one thing, in both cases a person is being judged by factors beyond
their control. Just as a person has no control over his or her race or
skin color, they also have no control over when and where they were
born. In both cases, there is a framework of belief that says, Without
even meeting or knowing you, I believe something about you: I can
expect this particular sort of behavior or traits (sneakiness, laziness,
arrogance, etc.) from members of this particular group of people (Jews,
blacks, Aries, etc.)

When an astrologer meets a person and finds out that persons
astrological sign, she will bring to that experience a pre-existing list
of assumptions (prejudices) about that persons behavior, personality,
and character. In both cases, the prejudices will cause people to seek
out and confirm their expectations. Racists will look for examples of
anti-social behaviors in the groups they dislike, and astrologers will
look for the personality traits that they believe the person will
exhibit. Since people have complex personalities (all of us are lazy
some of the time, caring at other times, etc.), both racists and
astrologers will find evidence to confirm their beliefs.

Of course there are differences, and astrologers are not racists. But
the belief systems underlying both viewpoints are very similar:
prejudging individuals based on beliefs about a group. Some might ask
what the harm is, if the stereotypes are harmless. Not all stereotypes
are negative; some are positive. Chinese and Japanese, for example, are
often assumed to be good at math; Latin men are said to be good lovers,
black women are strong and sassy; attractive people are seen as more
honest. These prejudices can be just as harmful in creating
expectations. In fact, astrologers cannot explain how a persons
personality or future could possibly be influenced by the position of
planets and stars at birth. Why would a person be especially creative
and generous just because she happened to come out of her mothers womb
between July 23 and August 22?

I dont assume that Blacks are lazy, Arabs are terrorists, Asians are
scholastic geniuses, or Geminis are optimistic non-conformists. I judge
people individually, on who they are as a person, not on what arbitrary
group they belong to. To paraphrase Martin Luther King, Jr., I believe a
person should be judged not by the color of their skinnor the date and
time of their birthbut by the content of their character. Then again,
Im a Libra.

Religious ed leader pleads guilty to sexual abuse

5 girls molested at Christ United Methodist Church

By Brad Zinn/staff
bzinn@newsleader.com
Friday, January 29, 2010

Staunton - A former Staunton church director who molested five young
girls in his office and in the hallways of Christ United Methodist
Church pleaded guilty Thursday in circuit court to seven counts of
aggravated sexual battery.

A grim-faced Steven B. Joplin, 60, stared down at the defense table
in the nearly empty courtroom as assistant Staunton prosecutor Anne
Reed detailed the allegations against him.

Reed said Joplin began molesting the girls, who ranged in age from 10
to 12, in September 2008. All of the incidents took place at the
church, located at 1512 Churchville Ave.

One of the children, a 10-year-old, told authorities she was molested
at the church shortly after returning from a family reunion. The girl
said she went to the church to attend a cooking class but was called
in the office of Joplin, the church's director of Christian
education. Reed said Joplin had the girl sit on his lap, where he put
his hands up the girl's shirt as they viewed a computer screen.

Two other victims said Joplin came up behind them in a hallway and
reached up into their shirts. Two additional victims said they too
were fondled in Joplin's office while sitting on his lap and looking
at the computer.

On Aug. 12, one of the girls who was fondled in Joplin's office
immediately reported the incident, telling her mother that Joplin
"was a child molester," according to Reed. Joplin, of Middlebrook,
was arrested days later by Staunton police.

Reed said Joplin told police his marriage had been under strain and
that he made a "poor decision." Following Thursday's hearing in
Staunton Circuit Court, Reed had high praise for Investigator Chad
Nestor of the Staunton Police Department, whose diligence in pursuing
Joplin paid off with a swift arrest and a talkative suspect.

"Which included a confession from Mr. Joplin," Reed said.

There was no plea agreement in place for Thursday's guilty pleas, and
Reed said she was satisfied Joplin took responsibility for his
actions "as it spares these young girls from having to go through the
trial process."

Joplin, who faces the possibility of 140 years in prison, remains
free on bond. A sentencing date has not been set.

God-Man lands in jail at Gods Own Country
Wednesday, May 20, 2009,16:39 [IST]
Rajesh Krishna

It seems to be trouble season for the 'god men' in Gods own Country,
Kerala. The swamis who earlier went to Himalayas to attain salvation
have now chosen jails for peace of mind.

A court in Kerala today sentenced self-styled Godman Swami
Amrithachaithanya alias Santhosh Madhavan to 16 years rigorous
imprisonment for raping two minor girls.

The case against Santosh Madhavan, who was an alleged to have carried
out transnational financial frauds, was that he had sexually abused
three minor girls and a young woman.

He is the first Malayalee criminal under GOD-MAN skin to go
international and wanted by Interpol since 2004 for fraud committed in
the United Arab Emirates.

He has been organising "spiritual" events in the Kochi and advertising
himself in full-page advertorials in vernacular dailies for over a year.
The police, who raided his ashram last year recovered porn CDs, tiger
skins, and foreign liquor.

Madhavan, a godman-cum-fraudster had been luring minor girls into his
fold promising educational aid, and many victims, including the
identified rape victim, had been used for making pornographic videos.

Madhavan, in his avatar as the white-clad swamy, founded Shanthitheeram
trust in his own name and his parents. The godman, a matriculate who
claims to have learnt astrology and philosophy, roams around in a
Mercedes Benz and invests the swindled money in building projects across
the state.

The court concluded that the godman had sexually abused two minor girls.
These were the girl who stood firm in the court and another who changed
her statement. Despite the change in the statement of the girl, the
court accepted as proof the CD containing visuals of the sexual
relationship between Santosh Madhavan and her.

Santhosh Madhavan was also accused of sexually persecuting at least
eight minor girls using an orphanage he had been running as a screen.
Santosh Madhavan had been astrologer to several elite personalities and
was also close to the top brass in the Police Department.

Amish couple sentenced

By Nicholas W. Inman
southcountymail.com
Thursday, January 28, 2010

An Amish couple were sentenced Tuesday, Jan. 26, in Webster County
Circuit Court -- the husband for sexually abusing two of his teenage
daughters and the mother for not reporting the crime to authorities.
Johnny A. Schwartz and Fannie J. Schwartz, of the Amish community
along Route A in the south-central part of the county, both entered
guilty pleas as part of plea agreements.

Johnny Schwartz was sentenced to two seven-year terms in the
Department of Corrections on the statutory sodomy charges, to run
concurrently, and two 10-year sentences on the child molestation
charges, to run consecutively but concurrent with the other terms.

Fannie Schwartz received a suspended imposition of sentence, with
five years supervised probation. She must conduct 100 hours of
community service and receive counseling. She was instructed by the
court to meet with a parole officer.

The case, which began in October 2009, originated when Johnny
Schwartz was investigated and charged with sexual abuse of two of his
daughters.

Schwartz, who has been incarcerated in the Webster County Jail since
first being arrested, appeared on his own behalf alongside his
attorney, Will Worsham.

Prior to Schwartzs sentencing, one side of the courtroom filled with
members of the local Amish community, several of whom were related to
Schwartz and his wife, Fannie Schwartz.

As Johnny Schwartz approached the bench in shackles, his wife used a
white handkerchief to collect the tears that streamed down her face.

In both cases, formal arraignment was waived and the judge questioned
Johnny Schwartz and Fannie Schwartz in separate appearances before
the court, following their guilty pleas.

Johnny Schwartz pleaded guilty to four counts, including two class C
felonies and two class B felonies. During questioning by the judge,
Schwartz, in a voice barely audible, answered that he had not been
told by anyone that he had a mental disease that would keep him from
understanding the proceedings.

Worsham later questioned Schwartz about his statement, and asked if
he had not been transported to Kansas City, where he had received
evaluation for his mental state. Schwartz stated that he had and
agreed that it was clear from the doctors who examined him that he
would be available to understand everything during his trial. He also
stated that he is taking medication for his bipolar disorder.

Following questioning, Prosecutor Danette Padgett was asked by the
judge to read the evidence that would be presented if Schwartz were
to have a jury trial.

Padgett read graphic details from the testimony offered by Schwartz
and his minor daughters from probable cause statements recorded by
the Webster County Sheriffs Department.

Padgett explained that two of the counts had occurred at the Schwartz
home on Normandy Road in Webster County between June 14, 2007, and
June 14, 2008, and that a third count occurred between June 4, 2000,
and June 4, 2001. She also explained that the other count involved
with the plea took place between June 4, 2002, and June 4, 2003.

During the presentation of her evidence, it was stated that Schwartz
had been punished by the church on more than one occasion for having
sexual contact with his biological children.

After Johnny Schwartz sentencing, Fannie J. Schwartz stood before
the Judge, dressed in the traditional dress of her culture.

As the judge asked her to raise her right hand to administer her
oath, Schwartz politely refused to raise her hand to receive the
oath. The Judge then asked her to receive the oath without raising
her hand, which she did.

She then went through the same process as her husband, with
questioning by the judge.

Fannie Schwartz entered a plea agreement as well and was charged with
the Class C felony of endangering the welfare of a child. She was
charged for knowing about the abuse and not taking actions to protect
her children.

In evidence read by the prosecutor, testimonies revealed that the
Schwartz had communication with her daughters about the abuse and
said "that it did not bother her as much as it should have."

Padgett explained that many times when Johnny Schwartz would come and
get one of the daughters to take her upstairs, that she would be in
the company of her mother.

Four Amish elders from the community are scheduled to appear in court
on March 10, on charges they also did not report the abuse by Johnny
Schwartz to authorities, and have requested to appear in absentia.

Top Indian astrologer arrested for sexual abuse

A high profile Indian astrologer has been arrested following charges of
sexual abuse of women who sought his services.

By Sinha Ratnatunga, Correspondent

A high profile Indian astrologer has been arrested following charges of
sexual abuse of women who sought his services.

Swamiji Kishore Shastri, who advertised himself as India's famous
astrologer, was arrested by a special police team from Slave Island in
Colombo after they deployed two female decoys acting as mother and daughter.

He was arrested on Friday and was due to be produced before a magistrate
yesterday and remanded until December 10.

The astrologer, who offered to solve problems related to love marriages,
divorce, remarriage, failure of love, higher education and business
problems, targeted wealthy women who called at his five-star apartment
block.

Among those who fell victim were a gem merchant's wife, an army
officer's wife and other wealthy women, police investigations have revealed.

The modus operandi of the astrologer was to first grant an appointment
when telephone inquiries were made. On the given day when the
prospective clients came to meet him, he would first charge Rs1,200
(Dh41) as the initial appointment fee.

He would then fix another day on which they would be required to give
money ranging from Rs10,000 (Dh352) upwards running up to Rs200,000
(Dh7,325).

According to police, on the following day when the prospective client
meets him he would start his 'astrological' consultation. After that he
would get rid of the people who accompany them including the husband or
boyfriend.

He had allegedly raped or molested women thereafter.

New bishop had doubts about new job

'And then I look at the Diocese of Antigonish -- I see large legal
settlements, money issues,' Bishop Brian Dunn tells the Post

By Chris Shannon
Cape Breton Post
Friday, January 29, 2010

Sydney - Newly installed Bishop Brian Dunn of the Diocese of
Antigonish was busy fielding questions from the media Thursday as he
wound down his first official trip to Cape Breton as bishop. Dunn,
55, originally from Buchans, N.L., left a position as an auxiliary
bishop in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. after only one year to oversee the
troubled Antigonish diocese.

It was a daunting task that even he wasn't sure he wanted to take on,
Dunn said in a sit-down interview with the Cape Breton Post. He had
doubts about accepting a new posting after spending only one year in
Sault Ste. Marie.

"It seemed to me too early to leave," Dunn said during an interview
at his Sydney home.

"I didn't think I had enough experience as a bishop, I didn't have
what it would take. And then I look at the Diocese of Antigonish -- I
see large legal settlements, money issues. All of those are kind of
totally new experiences for me."

He was approached by the diocese in late September to take over from
Bishop Raymond Lahey, who had resigned his post and was subsequently
charged with child pornography offences. Lahey's case is still before
the courts.

Dunn has been briefed on some parts of the estimated $18.5-million
settlement agreement reached last August between the diocese and a
class action launched by Sydney resident Ron Martin to compensate
victims of sexual abuse from 1950 to the present.

Despite several people who have opted out of the agreement to pursue
their own claims, the diocese has decided to continue working toward
compensating abuse victims.

Dunn admitted he isn't yet aware of all issues surrounding the
historic agreement, but said it's important to continue the process
to heal past wrongs in the church.

He said he believes Catholic Church wisely chose to see the process
through to the end.

"This is a very good way to help people be healed quickly."

So far, Dunn hasn't been able to speak with Martin in person. A
service of reconciliation, which has been favoured by Martin, is
still a concept, Dunn said.

Parishes across the diocese will have to hand over assets accumulated
up until Feb. 28, 2009, and all church lands, unoccupied homes and
associated church buildings, including halls that are not considered
core assets to the operation of the parish. Parishes will be
permitted to keep $10,000 in cash for operating expenses.

The bishop, who was installed during an elaborate ceremony in
Antigonish on Monday, said it'll take some time to know exactly how
parishioners are feeling about the financial decisions made by the
diocese.

"There seems to be a sense of acceptance, a sense of, 'We have to do
it,' and so that's an obligation that we have. But once I get around
to people, to different areas, I may have a better perspective on how
people are really responding," he said.

Sisters suing Catholic Church

Women say priest abused them, seek $1.7m each

By Brian Medel Yarmouth Bureau
The Chronicle-Herald
Friday, January 29, 2010

Doucette alleges she was assaulted by the same priest.(Brian Medel -
Yarmouth Bureau)]

Yarmouth - Two sisters originally from the tiny community of St.
Alphonse, Digby County, are suing the Roman Catholic Church for $1.7
million each.

In documents filed in Nova Scotia Supreme Court, they allege they
were sexually abused as young children by their parish priest, the
late Rev. Edward Theriault.

Jeanne Doucette, 48, and Margaret Deveau, 55, now live in Yarmouth
County. They have filed civil lawsuits against the Archdiocese of
Halifax and the Diocese of Yarmouth, claiming general and special
damages.

The priest was convicted in a 1993 criminal case of sexually
assaulting Margaret Deveau in her own home between 1962 and 1969.
Father Theriault, then 67, admitted his misconduct in Nova Scotia
provincial court.

"I'm sorry for hurting the church, sorry for hurting the victim,
sorry for hurting the family that I tried to help while I was their
pastor," he said at the time.

Father Theriault was placed on probation for two years. He was also
ordered to pay a $10 victim fine surcharge and perform 500 hours of
community service.

On Thursday, Margaret Deveau said she wants to make the Roman
Catholic Church accountable for the suffering and abuse perpetrated
by its priests.

"Just from when we grew up and knew what was happening then, I know
there's many others," she said, referring to the possibility there
are other victims of Father Theriault.

"But it's really hard for people to come out."

Ms. Deveau confronted Father Theriault before the 1993 criminal case
and he denied any wrongdoing.

"I wasn't ready for that," she said. "He just said, 'no, well that's
not true. That didn't happen.' "

But she confronted him again and he admitted it.

Father Theriault was also charged in 1993 with assaulting Ms.
Doucette. She allowed the charge to be withdrawn when Father
Theriault agreed to plead guilty to assaulting her older sister.

"I've regretted it every single day since," Ms. Doucette said
Thursday.

She also confronted Father Theriault about his abuse, begun when she
was three years old.

"I remember one of the times that we did confront him, he looked at
me and he said, 'you were so cute,' " she recalled. "That . . .
really, really upset me. I guess I was just speechless."

The sisters said they want other victims of Father Theriault to come
forward to start their healing.

"I deal with it every day . . . what's happened to us. You never get
over it," said Ms. Doucette

Father Theriault also served Catholic parishes in Salmon River,
Wedgeport and Shelburne. He died in 2008.

The Roman Catholic Church had little to say Thursday about the new
lawsuit.

"That material has been received by our lawyers. It is a civil suit
so we don't have any particular comment that we can make," said
Marilyn Sweet, spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Halifax.

"We will certainly be attending to it and continue to be very
concerned about all issues (surrounding) sexual abuse and children,"
she said Thursday.

The church will have time to file a defence. The typical 20-day
deadline will likely be extended, said a lawyer from the firm
representing the sisters.

"Usually in cases that are this old, with priests that (are)
deceased, there's a general understanding that that deadline is a
soft deadline," Aaron Lealess, a lawyer with the London, Ont. law
firm Ledroit Beckett, said Thursday.

"It'll likely be a couple months before we receive statements of
defence."

By coming forward now, the sisters hope to get some emotional healing
and reach out to others who have been abused, said Mr. Lealess.

Two other women alleging to also have been victimized by Father
Theriault have also contact the law firm, he said.
