The FBI has determined a terrorist suspect is a young college student
in London.
Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, a Nigerian national, is attending
engineering school at the University College of London (UCL),
according to federal officials. He told authorities he was doing the
bidding of al Qaida. Federal authorities are investigating his claim
and not yet convinced of his ties to the group.
UCL is an elite university that welcomes students of various
backgrounds and religious convictions. It is often referred to as the
4th best university in the world.
London has a large Muslim community with many smaller radicalized
factions. The 2005 bombing of the subway system in the city has
caused consternation between religious groups in the Kingdom.
Abdulmutallab applied for a Visa to visit the U.S. to attend a
religious gathering. He was listed on the FBI Watch List, but he was
not included in the No Fly List kept by terrorism experts in the U.S.
Federal authorities said Abdulmutallab was determined to have "low
level" connections to terrorists.
On Christmas morning, he allegedly tried to set off a bomb on board
Northwest Airlines Flight 253 that was inbound to Detroit from
Amsterdam. The alleged ignition failed and he was tackled by a
passenger three rows away from his seat. Other passengers and crew
members subdued him.
Witnesses said he had burns on his legs from the device he tried to
ignite. He was taken to a hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., under the
supervision of Special Agents from the FBI Detroit field office.
The substance he allegedly used is being taken to the FBI lab in
Quantico, Va., for analysis.
President Barack Obama has been in touch with his national security
advisers and he is actively monitoring the situation, according to
White House officials.
Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said the alert level in the U.S. would not be
raised from orange to red, however there will be increased security
at airports and other modes of transportation.

Evidently al Qaeda has set up a human resources branch in Nigeria.
Obama is vacationing in my neighborhood; he was told of the partially
successful terrorist attack three hours after it happened, and has
asked for better security measures. He has also asked the media not
to photograph his daughters. Maybe they've started wearing skimpy
swimsuits already.
We have huge waves today on the north and west shores of all islands,
but rather choppy and challenging even for an experienced surfer such
as myself.

Dec. 26, 2009 - The plot to blow up an American passenger jet over
Detroit was organized and launched by al Qaeda leaders in Yemen who
apparently sewed bomb materials into the suspect's underwear before
sending him on his mission, federal authorities tell ABC News.
Investigators say the suspect had more than 80 grams of PETN, a
compound related to nitro-glycerin used by the military. The so-
called shoe bomber, Richard Reid, had only about 50 grams kin his
failed attempt in 2001 to blow up a U.S.-bound jet. Yesterday's bomb
failed because the detonator may have been too small or was not in
"proper contact" with the explosive material, investigators told ABC
News.
Investigators say the suspect, Abdul Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab, a 23-
year-old Nigerian student whose birthday was last Tuesday, has
provided detailed information about his recruitment and training for
what was supposed to be a Christmas Day suicide attack.
According to the authorities, Abdulmutallab says he made contact via
the internet with a radical imam in Yemen who then connected him with
al Qaeda leaders in a village north of the country's capital, Sanaa.
Authorities say they do not yet know if the imam was the same one who
was in contact with Maj. Nidal Hasan prior to his alleged attack on
soldiers at Fort Hood last month. American-born Anwar Awlaki has
lived in Yemen since 2002 and is considered a major recruiter for al
Qaeda by U.S. authorities. He survived a U.S.-backed air strike
earlier this week.
The suspect in the Northwest Airlines attack told FBI agents he lived
with the al Qaeda leader in Yemen for about a month and was not
allowed to leave as he was trained in what to do and how to do it,
authorities said.
At some point, according to the account, Abdulmutallab said he was
joined by a Saudi citizen whom he described as an al Qaeda bomb
maker.
Bomb Sewn Into Underwear
The device intended to blow up the Northwest flight was made at the
location in Yemen, according to Abdulmutallab, and consisted of a
six-inch packet of powder and a syringe with a liquid. Both were sewn
into the student's underwear so they would be near his testicles and
unlikely to be detected, he told agents.
Authorities say the combination of the liquid in the syringe with the
powder created the flash bomb, which was extinguished by passengers
and air crew.
Investigators are conducting tests to determine the exact nature of
the powder and chemicals used.
Abdulmutallab suffered second-degree burns in his genital area,
investigators told ABC News.
The al Qaeda affiliate in Yemen has increasingly taken on a lead role
in coordinating major terror attacks as the U.S. has disrupted al
Qaeda training camps in Pakistan, according to American authorities.
Authorities say the suspected bomber was traveling on a visa issued
by the State Department on June 16, 2008 and valid until June 12,
2010. Officials tell ABC News he was on a U.S. "terror watch list"
but not on the "no fly" list, which would have prevented him from
boarding the flight.
He had previously traveled to the U.S. on an 11-day trip to Houston
in Aug. 2008.
Published reports in Nigeria said Abdulmutallab's father had
contacted the U.S. embassy six months ago about concerns his son had
become radicalized and could pose a threat to the U.S. One report
said the father could not understand why his son was allowed to board
a flight to the U.S. given his warning.

"Knowing who did the terrorism of September 11 is important, but why
they did it is even more important.
Yet, strangely, there has been little discussion in the mass media on
why the attack occurred. Politicians and media personalities have
given us completely inadequate explanations why a couple of dozen
young men would blow themselves up to get at us. In fact, they have
told us absurd lies to keep Americans from understanding the real
reason for the attacks.
We have been told that the attackers were simply crazy, cowardly men
who committed a quote "unprovoked attack." Media and government
spokesmen repeatedly assured us that these attacks had "nothing to do
with America's support of Israel." The official view, as expressed by
the President to the U.S. Congress, was that the terrorists attacked
us because they hate our freedom! Here is an excerpt of his remarks
before Congress
"Americans are asking, "Why do they hate us?"
"They hate what they see right here in this chamber: a democratically
elected government. Their leaders are self-appointed. They hate our
freedoms."
I am not trying to be disrespectful, but what he said is so ridiculous
that even this intellectually challenged President cannot really
believe it. Does Bush really think that a bunch of young men would
give up their families, their homes, and immolate themselves in a huge
ball of fire simply because they hate our democracy! Right on Mr.
President! Next week, will we will hear about Islamic kamikazes
crashing planes into Iceland, the oldest enduring democracy on earth.
Mr. Bush is asking America to support a massive war over the next ten
years. We are being asked to support a massive conflict whose huge
costs could well bankrupt America and cause the loss of great numbers
of American lives. Before we can make such a crucial decision, we
deserve to have the whole truth concerning this cataclysmic event.
Of course, Mr. Bush did not tell us the truth; he simply repeated the
Big Lie put out by the American mass media.
Saying that these acts were born out of hatred for freedom is a
calculated lie to divert us from associating this disaster with our
support for Israel.
You see, associating the attack with our Israeli policy would be bad
public relations for Israel and the Jewish Lobby. The last thing they
want is for the American people to realize that our unconditional
support of Israel has directly led to this disaster.
If the American people clearly understand that fact, people might
begin to ask a similar question to the one asked by Leslie Stahl, "Is
our support of Israel really worth it?"
To keep people from asking that obvious question, the media made up
the Big Lie that the men of October 11 were simply crazy, cowardly
people who hated freedom and democracy!

Lobby afflicts Congress and the President. It should anger every
American to think that the most powerful lobby in Congress is in the
service of a foreign nation. Yet, the immense power of the Jewish
Lobby is a proven fact, and nobody on Capitol Hill will dare defy this
all-powerful lobby. Even one of the most powerful U.S. Senators in
American history, William Fulbright, bluntly said on CBS's Face the
Nation, that, "Israel controls the U.S.
Senate."
Recently, a Hebrew Israeli radio station, Kol Yisrael, on October 3rd
reported that during an argument in an Israeli cabinet meeting, Shimon
Peres warned Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that unless he would heed
American requests for a cease fire with the Palestinians, he could
cause America to turn against Israel. In a fit of anger, Sharon
responded to Peres:
"Every time we do something, you tell me America will do this and will
do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry
about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control
America, and the Americans know it." (2)
The media bosses and the Israel-bought politicians know the real
reasons behind this terrorism. They have read the interviews of Osama
Bin Laden. He and almost every other Islamic opponent of America has
put support for Israel at the top of their top ten reasons for hating
America. Bin Laden and countless millions in the Muslim world regard
the attacks on Lebanon, on Iraq, on Libya, on Iran, on Afghanistan and
on Sudan as a direct result of Israel's control over America.
They point out that the many Israeli massacres of Palestinians, the
ongoing torture of thousands of prisoners, the use of assassination of
political enemies, the bombing of refugee camps, and the expansive
wars launched by Israeli's against their Arab neighbors; that all
these Israeli crimes are completely dependent on unconditional
American aid. They also see the deaths of the 500,000 Iraqi children,
as admitted by our former Jewish Secretary of State, as a direct
result of Jewish control of America.
The American people, who are under the bombardment of a biased
multimedia, might not realize the Jewish control of American foreign
policy, but the Palestinians and their allies such as Bin Laden, all
understand it; and they hate us for it.
In fact, the same mass media that are giving out the Big Lie that the
terrorist motivation is "hate for freedom," are clearly aware of Bin
Laden's real motivations.
I can easily prove the true motivation of bin Laden and I can prove
the media has known the truth all along. In May of 1998 reporter John
Miller of ABC interviewed Bin Laden. Bin Laden talks about why he
seeks to attack America. You can find it on the ABC and the PBS web
sites. Here are excerpts of bin Laden's own words.
"For over half a century, Muslims in Palestine have been slaughtered
and assaulted and robbed of their honor and of their property. Their
houses have been blasted, their crops destroyed.
"This is my message to the American people: to look for a serious
government that looks out for their interests and does not attack
other people's lands, or other people's honor. And my word to American
journalists is not to ask why we did that but ask what their
government has done that forced us to defend ourselves."
"So we tell the Americans as people, and we tell the mothers of
soldiers and American mothers in general that if they value their
lives and the lives of their children, to find a patriotic government
that will look after their interests and not the interests of the
Jews."
I say to them that they have put themselves at the mercy of a disloyal
government, and this is most evident in Clinton's administration. We
believe that this administration represents Israel inside America.
Take the sensitive ministries such as the Secretary of State and the
Secretary of Defense and the CIA, you will find that the Jews have the
upper hand in them. They make use of America to further their plans
for the world.
In the interview, bin Laden never said one word about opposing
democratic principles, nor has he ever done so in his lifetime. So,
now we know Laden's true motivation. He attacked us not because he
"hates democracy", but because he thinks Israel controls and uses
America to attack his people."

Clergy sex abuse victims on Cincy archbishop's retirement
SNAP CINCINNATI issues the following statement on the occasion of the
50th anniversary of the ordination of and pending retirement of
Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk:
The Cincinnati Chapter of SNAP (Survivors Network of those Abused by
Priests - a self help group for those sexually abused by Catholic
priests and other religious authority figures) sees the retirement of
Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk as good news and as no news.
The 'good news' is that the man who enabled, permitted, facilitated,
covered up, agreed with, and conspired to allow hundreds of
Cincinnati and Dayton area children and teenagers to be sexually
abused by criminals under his own supervision is leaving active
service, and will no longer be the chief decision maker when it comes
to dealing with the scandal that he himself admitted was his most
challenging matter during his tenure as the region's top Catholic
official (1982-2009). Sadly, his legacy does not go away with him, as
the victims and survivors of the sexual abuse that occurred during
his reign are unable to have the horrifying crimes committed against
them undone. The apology he issued during his recent anniversary
celebration mass is insufficient and insulting to the many victims
and survivors who were left behind as Pilarczyk cowardly hid behind
Ohio's woefully obsolete, predator-friendly statutes of limitations
in his own defense. His offering of crumbs to his victims, and the
fact that he the criminal (don't forget his 2003 criminal conviction
on 5 counts of failure to report a crime) advocated that he alone be
allowed to determine his own punishment and method of contrition, fly
in the face of the concept of Christian forgiveness. His suggestion
of prayers for those abused and his pleas for forgiveness for himself
from his constituents would be laughable if they weren't so hurtful.
He is attempting to go out on a high note, but those who have studied
his behavior and lack of compassion know the real legacy of Pilarczyk --
he is a discredited shepherd but a brilliant corporate chief
executive officer.
The 'no news' is that sadly little has changed. His successor Dennis
Schnurr has shown no kindness nor reached out to victims in any
public manner since his arrival in town as Archbishop in waiting. He
has thumbed his nose at his constituents by purchasing a very
expensive home at a time when several Catholic churches and schools
are hurting financially, inner city parishes are being closed, and
many victims and survivors are left to deal with lifelong scars all
by themselves, without the financial assistance they need to afford
the proper treatments and therapies they need to heal properly.
Pilarczyk and Schnurr apparently know better than professional
counselors, psychologists, and therapists what clergy sex abuse
victims need to heal. Promises of fingerprinting, background checks,
and training are not enough to keep kids safe in the future.
Accountability gives these things credibility, and until those who
have allowed and continue to allow the bad guys a safe haven, the no
news is that there remains no credibility within the walls of the
Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
