Rajeev Khandelwal says he did a crash course to be a DJ in his
forthcoming film

After playing the intense cop in Shaitan, Rajeev Khandelwal will be
seen as a musician in Soundtrack, a role he says ranks as one of his
most emotionally exhausting.

The actor, who also reveals that he did a crash course in how to be a
DJ, said, "Doing this film was emotionally exhausting. When you are
playing a character who goes through this gamut of emotions, it is
very difficult to maintain those emotions over many days," said
Khandelwal.

"There are also times when you just want to do one or two scenes
because it becomes difficult to deal with it any more. There were
occasions when I did that. Even the director understood that. But
that's a part and parcel of this profession," the actor said.

Soundtrack, directed by Neerav Ghosh is the remake of award-winning
Canadian film It's All Gone Pete Tong. It has been changed a little
bit to suit Indian sensibilities and is the story of a musician who
comes to Mumbai and tries to make it big. It's a triumph of human
spirit story.

Khandelwal, who is playing a musician and in some parts a DJ in the
film, prepared a lot for the role. "All the preparations first came
from Neerav. I followed his directions and also did a workshop with
him for a month. We worked on the character and he made me understand
it. He told me how he looks at the character and around the same time
I was also taking a crash course on DJing," he said.

Khandelwal also revealed that he did not see the original film
because he wanted to bring out his own interpretation of the
character and not get inspired by anyone. "I haven't seen the film
even though Neerav kept insisting that I should see it. I was a
little hesitant. I thought that I may end up taking some inspiration
from that character. So I deliberately kept myself away from that
film," he said.

Grover murder case: Jerome challenges his conviction in HC

Mumbai - A fortnight after being sentenced to ten years jail term in
the murder case of TV executive Neeraj Grover, former navyman Emile
Jerome has moved the Bombay High Court challenging his conviction and
blaming Kannada actress Maria Susairaj for the offence.

"We have filed an appeal in the High Court against the sessions court
order. The appeal would come up for hearing on July 25 along with
Jerome's bail application," his lawyer Wahab Khan said.

On July 1, a sessions court had convicted Jerome for culpable
homicide not amounting to murder and had sentenced him to ten years
rigorous imprisonment. Jerome's fiance and Kannada actress, Maria
Susairaj, a co-accused in the case, was, however, held guilty only
under the charge of destruction of evidence and awarded a three-year
sentence.

Susairaj was let-off from jail two days after the conviction, as she
had already undergone the sentence period.

Pinning the blame on Susairaj, Jerome, in his appeal has said, "That
motive, if any, was with the original accused No. 1 (Susairaj) for
committing the offence and not with the applicant (Jerome)."

The appeal further states that the prosecution had not been able to
ascertain the time of Grover's death, and hence, the possibility that
the victim was already dead, when Jerome landed in Mumbai, cannot be
ruled out.

It further alleges that the investigating agency (Crime Branch) had
planted evidence like the knife and plastic can, in which, kerosene
was taken to burn the body.
