Hema Malini files nomination as BJP candidate to RS

Bangalore - The last day of filing nominations to a Rajya Sabha seat
from Karnataka on Monday witnessed some glamorous and dramatic
developments. Everyone in the Vidhana Soudha, the seat of power in
Bangalore, fell over one another to see the 'Dream Girl', Hema Malini
who arrived here to file her nomination as a BJP candidate to the
Upper House accompanied by Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, State party
president KS Eshwarappa and host of other BJP leaders.

Her opponent is K Marulasiddappa, a renowned Kannada scholar, who too
filed his nomination as an independent candidate. He was accompanied
by Congress and JD(S) leaders.

Hema Malini said, "I am happy I have been asked by the party to file
my nomination from Karnataka. I will understand the needs of the
people and work accordingly".

When asked about some discontent in a section of BJP about her
candidature she said "When there is some happiness there will be some
anger also. I will try to make all happy".

Marulasiddappa, a Kannada professor, filed his nominations
accompanied by leader of opposition Siddaramaiah and JD (S) leader HD
Revanna.
